So the other day I had a weird dream. For those of you in real life, who know me, know not only do I talk in my sleep but I have some vivid ass dreams.
My husband is SO LUCKY (yes, that's sarcasm). This is the kind of stuff he gets day in and day out...
Me: Damn, that was vivid.
Hubs: *rubs eyes* Huh?
Me: My dream, it was wicked. I lost a leg.
Hubs: Were you in the army?
Me: *giggles* That's absurd. I don't like war. It was in a doctor's office, or something like that. There was this bad guy, he drugged me with some weird stuff that makes you woozy and not feel pain. He cut off my left leg, only up to the knee cap, and then told me he was going to leave me there to bleed.
Hubs: Seriously?
Me: Yeah, but I wasn't scared. It was a trip, weird not feeling scared. There was a McDonald's out the window and a table that had my escape route planned out. It was wicked. There were two dead bodies, girls who looked just like me, no legs... wicked I tell you.
Hubs: I don't know how to respond.
Me: *ignores his comment* What's super weird was that was his profession. He made prosthetic legs... I don't know his plans for the real one's he was taking, but I was going to survive. I know I was.
Hubs: And then you woke.
Me: Yup. What's brilliant is it fits perfectly in with my young adult novel idea. Genius. I love weird dreams like that. They make my day.
Hubs: Cool (said in a dull tone, of course). You should shower or we'll be late.
Moral of the story: Don't go to bed hungry or McDonalds debuts (can't get away from them).
There you have it. I just proved dreaming is for rockstars (or the mentally unstable). How do you dream?

In my youth, I kept a notebook by my bed and wrote each dream before I forgot it. Lately, I think I need to renew that habit...I've been having some strange ones...but I'm certainly not a rock star.
Glad to know I'm not the only crazy dreamer out there. I love it. My dreams are bizarre, to say the least. Although, I've never had my leg cut off. That's a first.
LOL I have wacky dreams too, but they make me so mad because I can barely remember them. That one is really weird, but I love it:) USE IT!
Too funny! I tend to have vivid dreams like that, too. Some of the elements really can freak me out! Wonder what it all really means?
o_o You people dream the weirdest thing.
I always dream, but I usually forget it when I awake. I'll only remember it if it was significant, like me riding a dragon to the moon.
omg, Jen--LOL! A young adult where someone loses a limb or gets a prosthetic? I think that's a new one! Go for it... :D <3
Haha! You know, I don't think I talk in my sleep. (I do grind my teeth though and sometimes wake up my husband who is a VERY deep sleeper). But I do dream very vividly also. Though I've never dreamed of McDonalds...
The last super vivid dream I had was of being poisoned. Yeah, not so good. Very painful and scary, and I woke up feeling like there was something pressing down on me, and I couldn't move.
I prefer the happy vivid dreams.
And I don't mind at all if a hot guy's in it. :)
I mean..my husband..
It's like the dreams never stop! I woke up from a man chasing a friend and me through a corn field! It was terrible! The alarm saved my life, thank god! It could be this bug I've caught messing with my head!
OH my gosh, that IS vivid!!!!!! Holy cow. Thanks for the smile.
lol- wow. That reminds me of a 'medium' episode I watched once where this serial killer surgeon ghost was taking over doctor's bodies and making them preform gruesome surgeries on young girls. No prosthetic legs and no chance of survival for the victims unfortunatly. Unless alison dubois came the rescue before hand. Anyways. Yuck. LOL. Hope your dreams remain inspirational and fairly pleasant!
It must be the season for weird dreams! My latest one involved a nameless quest with two sci-fi heroes from totally different shows and a friend from real life who'd downloaded her consciousness into an android body so she wouldn't get fat. Except we weren't sure if she was really on our side or just using us for her own nefarious purposes.
And yes, I am totally and completely trying to figure out if I can work any of that dream into a story!
Oh I'm a big dreamer, and funnily enough, most of the ideas for my books come when I'm half asleep, not daydreaming! :o)
Haha, vivid dreams freak me out! I would be terrified if I had that one. Poor leg! :)
Now I'm convinced I have the most boring dreams...
I have crazy dreams if I eat too close to bedtime, so I avoid snacking in the evenings. Although I could probably write some great novels about serial killers if I started eating dinner much later...
HA! Your hubs sounds like mine when I try and tell him dreams. I love getting good stuff from them for books, though!
Like you, I have some pretty crazy ones! Vivid dreaming rocks... when it's good, of course!
I have dreams like this more often than I'd like to admit! At least your husband seems to be okay with you telling him about them. I've learned to keep my mouth shut - my husband gets totally freaked out. :)
Oh, ONLY up to the knee cap. No big deal, then.
I have weird ass dreams too. Recently one where these guys killed another guy because he was charging them too much to paint their car lime green, and they shoved him under a dock filled with glass. I still don't get it.
And one time a bagel truck exploded and it rained bagels. Which would be AWESOME in real life.
hahaha you're CRAZY!! ;) no seriously, i have some insane dreams too. they don't make any sense, and they usually involve attractive actors like johnny depp or robert downey jr. and they're usually saving me from something or someone bad.
my hubs' responses to my dreams are usually "yeah, that's weird." the end. LOL. he doesn't remember his dreams so he has to suffer through mine (though I usually keep the actors names out of my explanations ;).
You have those kinds of dreams on a regular basis? Sounds like good fodder for fiction!
A vivid pregnancy dream is what gave me the idea I might want to write novels (it was years before I finally got down to it, though).
Now, it's not my vivd dreams so much as my half-awake brain that gives me inspiring ideas.
I dream pretty vividly on a daily basis, but unless I talk about it right away, I forget it throughout the day. I used to keep a dream journal next to my bed but I can't just turn on the light now...stupid man.
I also have this weird tendency to figure out the end of movies in my dreams. If I'm watching a movie and don't finish it for some reason and take a nap, I'll finish it in my head. I've been 100% accurate in these dreams. Weird.
I think a prosthetic leg will make an appearance in a future story!
Dreams are so crazy!!
My husband talks in his sleep and says crazy things!
LOL!!! at his "I don't know how to respond."
Rich I tell you.
My dreams? Well, I don't remember much honestly. I sleep deep and it's rare that I can remember little more than fragments that move like flashes then fade away.
Crazy vivd dreams are kind of entertaining, unless they're ghost dreams, then I freak out and can't sleep. Yours sounds fun.
I dream vividly, too. Funny you mentioned Mcdonalds, I once dreamed of being at my aunt's house and walking to a fast food place at the end of their country road, but in real life there isn't one. The next time I visited there was a Mcdonalds and an ARby's and a brand new hospital was being built.
It's like my ESP has Fry-dar; not anything actually useful.
Love it!
I rarely remember dreams, and they're not terribly vivid in general.
Yes, I'm one of those freakish dreamers who wake up remembering their uber-plotted dreams. In fact, I wrote what I considered a pretty kick-butt short story based on one of them:
http://bookinamonthmom.blogspot.com/search/label/plastic
I thought it rocked but my husband thought it was overly morbid and strange, like most of my short stories! Novels are better for me, I guess.
But my brother and I have always had this mysterious ability to "switch" the dreams we're dreaming...are we the only ones who can do that mid-dream? Anyone else? It's a little "Inception" freaky.
And when there's a bad guy, I always know I'm going to get him in the end. ALWAYS! Ha.
Ugh. I dreamt last night that I had this big craggy welp on my knee, and it began itching so I took a closer look and tiny maggots were crawling out. KILL ME. Then, I dreamed that someone poisoned my dog and her coat changed from its pretty copper color to pale white. I need someone to interpret these for me STAT.
I'm in the same boat as your husband! My hubby dreams very vividly and usually ends up sleep walking, talking, screaming, running and many other things. I usually get woken up once a week with him freaking out that there's bugs on him or someone is in our house! Tell your husband I feel for him! hahaha! Just joking, well sort of!
Ha, that's crazy! Bet you get a lot of inspiration from dreams as vivid as that...
My dreams usually seem to involve superpowers and mutants and metahumans -- I guess all the X-Men and Justice League I've always watched has to show itself somewhere besides my bedroom walls.
Oh my god. What a freaky dream. Run, run! But wait! You can't...
LOL
