Everybody wins in my world - unless you suck

I don’t know how many times each of you stops by. When you choose to comment or when you choose to lurk. Either way I’m thankful. Though I’m sure you will notice by now that titles have changed on each blog post. All last month I was on such a time crunch with writing that I stuck to a regular blog schedule and did them a MONTH in advance. Now I’m a week in advance and it still feels good to be ahead of schedule.

The week ahead just allows me to be more creative.

Today’s post is fun (as I try to make all my other posts as well).

Below are some fun little writing things I found online. They gave me a little chuckle.

Be more or less specific.

Don’t be redundant; don’t use more words than necessary; it’s highly superfluous.

Comparisons are as bad as clichés

Copy from one, it’s plagiarism; copy from two, it’s research.

I write to escape… to escape poverty.

Writing is a lonely job, unless you’re a drinker, in which case you always have a friend within reach.

When I was a little girl, they called me a liar, but now that I am grown up, they call me a writer.

Have any of your own?

I try to read as many posts as I can, but when you follow over 300, it becomes difficult. Love those sayings.

These are great! I'm never ahead of schedule--I always write the post the night before. Le sigh.

I love the one that says copying from two is research. I'll remember that!

I love the last one. My "stories" used to get me in a lot of trouble.

This is full of win.

Love the new design.

Sometimes, I'm a lurker, although I prefer looker, sometimes a commenter but know I am there, reading.

My favorite is the last quote. I wasn't called a liar but rather guilty of having a vivid imagination...but I am still not a writer.

As always, this was a delight to read.

I read a quote once that went something like - Writing is easy. All you do is stare at the screen until drops of blood form on your forehead.

Now those are helpful tips. I am just impressed that you are on a consistent schedule--nicely done.

LoL, I love that last one! I think I included that for a quote day once. I can't remember who said it though!

Here's two good ones I found recently:

"Don't worry about people stealing your ideas. If your ideas are any good, you'll have to ram them down people's throats." ~Howard Aiken

"Stories have a beginning, a middle, and an end. But not necessarily in that order." ~Robert Silverberg

I love 'em! And I must use the escape one. :P

I never write ahead of schedule. In fact, I don't know what I'm going to write today yet. Sigh. It's not usually this bad, but I just can't focus on anything but revisions!

I love the one on plagiarism vs. research. Ha! Of course, I work in academic publishing, where it's all about rehashing every other scholar's ideas.

Here's one I have on a button:
"Avoid cliches like the plague. They're a dime a dozen."

I saw this one the other day: An editor is a writer with a day job.

Love these :) And way to be ahead of schedule. I didn't know you were doing some of your posts a month in advance! That's awesome. I'm lucky if I write my post a couple of days before.

i admit that sometimes i read and don't comment because i'm lazy. like a boss.

and my blog edit post area thingie is full of drafts i started that i haven't finished/ i don't think they're funny enough to post yet. so sad.

LOL! Those are awesome. I am often a lurker and occasionally a commentor. :)

Haha! That last one is so, so true.

Be more or less specific...Ha! Love it! This made me smile going into writing today. Thanks!

LOL. I think I relate the most to the "don't be redundant" one. I often use semicolons and repeat myself, especially when it comes to description.

I like those! Very clever!

Oh good, I can stop worrying about my youngest. He's not lying as much as he's researching a future career in writing.
