Truth Thursdays

I hope you guys enjoy these? Sometimes I really struggle with coming up with truths. I really need to keep a truth notebook around my house for random days so that days when it escapes me I have back-ups. Alas we shall move forward where I embarrass myself (or not) in sharing my truths.

1. I've never flown by myself. This weekend I will. I'm terrified.
2. I love small cereal boxes for breakfast. I can't eat as soon as I get up so they're portable and that makes me happy.
3. I want to purchase a fake window to put on my desk. You know the one's that blow up and have a picture window with grass and a tree. It'll be better than the white walls.
4. All co-workers are strange. One who takes excessive smoke breaks, one who re-wears his newly purchased shirt every day (not sure if it's washed), one that calls you 'money' even though you don't have any idea what it means. Yeah, we all have them.
5. I like listening to random radio stations. I'll google a different city and pretend I'm there while listening from 6-10am. Thank you Chicago, North Carolina, and New York for your radio hosts. They keep me smiling.

What are your truths?

Okay, the one about the co-workers really made me laugh. Before I was mommy, I had several jobs with a wide assortment of weirdo co-workers. And "Money". . .that's just bizaare LOL! Happy Thursday Jen:)

I enjoyed your truths.

My truths...

1. I live for quiet time.
2. I love chocolate.
3. The general public makes me crazier, the older I get...is that me or them?
4. I love animals, sometimes more than people.
5. I admire your writing talent.

I hate flying period! And aren't all co-workers weird?

I always get a kick out of your Truth Thursdays, and believe me, I'd have a hard time doing this feature myself. I might try it a couple times, just to see how long I can keep it up. When I was a kid, I adored the small cereal boxes, but we only had them when we went camping. I also adored candy, which habit I have carried over into adulthood.

Ah yes, the co-workers we all have had. I am an odd co-worker myself, but my favorite co-worker type... the random question guy. "Hey... how long does a duck live?" Ummm... I'm editing copy about phlebotomy. Where the @()@*$) did that come from?

I worked with a girl who told me that she'd cooked up some crickets that weekend, put them in a sandwich and ate them.

One day she and another co-worker both brought their security blankets to work for . . . show and tell, I guess. One girl's blanket was called Boo and the other's was named Binkie. They spent a few minutes discussing the relative merits of their blankets.

I'm not making this up. I swear.

I like #3. One of my friends once brought a picture of a window to work for a windowless space. It made a huge difference in the office. Our window picture looked out over a beach.
You should listen to the 89.3 the current out of Minneapolis sometime.

Tuning in for Thursday Truths - and laughing about your co-workers! I've found that even people you like socially can be strange as co-workers!

Hah! Money! I'm going to start calling people that.
Let's see... truth for today.
I don't plan on wearing pants today

I used to be terrified of flying alone, but now I LOVE it! It's so relaxing. My truth: sometimes I'm not as perky as I seem. :-)

I've never flown by myself either. I hope you have a great trip. =)

The radio stations thing cracked me up! I never thought to do that, although I have a few bookmarked indie music stations from various places. I suppose that counts.

I frequently troll real estate listings just to see what's out there. I'm not in the market for a house but I like to keep my skills sharp, I suppose.

Why would he call you money? Are you sure he's asking for some?

Like instead of 'Hey, Money' he saying, 'hey, money?'. I don't know...just a thought.

We have had some seriously insane peeps working in my office. I've posted about it before. One told everyone she was psychic but she never foretold anything good. Another one was on drugs but management couldn't see it until she started offering her pills to everyone. At least she shared.

And one used to randomly shout out weird phrases and songs. He was my favorite. Sometimes I do it too...in honor of his memory.

My truths:

1. I cried on my son's first day Kindergarten and I cried on his last day of high school.

2. I just got my hair cut short two days ago.

3. I just colored my hair today.

You have the best truths, Jen! I love your last one. That sounds like a great way to immerse yourself in "foreign" cultures.

I collect hotel shampoo and soap & pretend I'm on vacation in my own bathroom.

I love that you eat small cereal boxes. I do that when we go to the beach in the summer, so I bet if I did that regularly, I'd feel like I was on vacation :)

Also, I fly alone a lot (for conferences and stuff) and I promise it's not that bad!

Hehehe those secrets are cool!

I haven't flown alone either. Good luck!

Flying/traveling alone can be a grand adventure. I look at it as a way to see who my fellow travelers are. They're with me, too. Maybe I'll sit next to someone who inspires a character or has an interesting story, or maybe I'll embrace the time to read and hang out in my own head. I hope you can relax and enjoy it. If nothing else, focus on the destination. I hope it's a good one.

Speaking of travel, I'm feeling like my confession is that I'm getting an itch to travel. Don't know where, yet.

Great truths, Jen. The little cereal boxes are so fun. Good luck on your flying excursion. One tip: make sure the air is blowing on you as you take off and land... it'll help.

I hope your flight went well, Jen! I love flying...One time I sat by a guy who was developing an encrypted postage stamp for the government. I had no idea that people made counterfit stamps, but apparently the do.
