Looks Matter

I love cover art! It's the most exciting time getting to see the reactions of writers when they get to see the cover of their novel. Their love captivates you and you can't help but want to pick up the book based on the cover alone!!!

Below I've chosen a few books and I'm curious which one's you'd read based on the cover!! Or if you'd at least look at the blurb on the back!!!

Now... what are you reading? Anything in your mailbox? Any of these catch your eyes?

oh, i'd definitely read Ember (the one with the butterfly) and probably Vanished. Now i'm curious and will have to look them up!

I think I'd pick "I'll have who she's having" but because of the title!

I'm an absolute cover junkie. I'm kinda ashamed to say that it's the first thing that catches my eye and makes me want to pick up a book and read the back cover. Although the title plays a part too.
Very curious about covers #1 and #2. The last one looks fun.

The first one catches my eye because of the artwork.

For me the first one seems the most mysterious, which is what I like to read. I think maybe the butterfly is getting used a lot though!

I like the first one. A lot. But I also really like the shimmery quality of the Vanish one. Man, I love cover art. Have an awesome day Jen:)

Based on that cover, I'm thinking I'm going to have to give Ember a look.

None of these really interest me, but then I'm a horror fan. If I had to choose it would be the first, Ember. It's got that mysterious quality to it.

Oooh those are all great in their own way. I hadn't seem Ember before and I really like it. I know one author *cough cough* who is getting ready to show off her cover to the world and she loves it. It'll be interesting to see what the rest of the world thinks.

Happy Friday!

Based on titles, the two that sounded compelling are I'll Have Who She's Having and Passion Fish. Based on covers, the two that caught my eye are Ember and I'll Have Who She's Having.

Based on title and the cover I would read Embers and Vanished. :) How I have missed coming to your blog Jen. School has been keeping me ultra busy.

I'd pick Ember. I love the cover and the others look too girly for me. However, it would be better if they chose a font that is a little easier to read.

They all do! How awesome are those covers?!

I'd definitely check out the first one and maybe read it even if the blurb on the back didn't really grab me... just cause I love the cover art:-) The rest it would probably depend on how I'm feeling on any given day. The second one I may check out the back cause it looks cheery & Vanish & Passion Fish I'd probably check out for the title alone:-)

I liked the butterfly one and the girl with the balloons. I could see myself buying them on that basis alone.

The cover for Ember is amazing. I will now look that book up!

I agree with Bee - the cover is what gets me and I love a beautiful cover. The cover can grab me or turn me off of the book. Ember really intrigues me, how beautiful. And I love the cover of Vanish. This was fun on a Friday morning. Thanks!

I'm far too manly to pick up any of those books.

Ember caught my eye. I was drawn in by that cover art. The others, I'd have to read the back to decide. I'm reading Life as We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer. LOVING it!

#1 i'd definitely read on the cover alone. The others would depend on the back cover and if it sounded interesting to me

Ooh, they're all nice. I'd pick up number 2 first, but read all the back cover blurbs. Number one is quite nice too!

Definitely Ember. I love the way the light is shining on the butterfly.

Cover alone - Ember
Vanish
Title - I'll have who she's having
Passion Fish
Vanish

The other one I might look at in a library.

*Vanish* and *Ember* both definitely got my attention. Most of the time, I have to admit, judging by covers plays a large part in my random library browsing.

I love the first cover, Ember. I'd pick that up in a heartbeat. It's stunning.
I know they say you can't judge a book by its cover, but it definitely dictates if a book is lifted off the shelf or not!

I love cover art, although I try not to let it influence my decision to buy a book or not. The first cover is the most striking!

I agree with those who said Ember, that's the one book I'd reach for, and scan the blurb on the basis of the cover art alone. It's beautiful, and I tend to go for mystery/ fantasy or literary fiction.

But all the covers are fabulous. I often buy books as gifts, and would choose "I'll have who she's having" for one friend, because balloons always say "fun" (I probably would have gone for it myself about ten years ago! I would borrow it back from her if she raved about it), and "Love and Lattes" for another - provided the blurb was intriguing!

I liked the first one! Very intriguing I thought.

Just finished, “Watching Willow Watts".

I'd pick up Ember and Vanish. I like the whole paranormal thing. :)
