Writing Changes Lives

Happy Wednesday! I love reading stories about those who started out in an impressive profession and moved to writing. Taking a huge change and watching it pay off. Today I have a very special story. Isabelle Lafleche is the author of J'adore New York and her courage and ambition is one that leaves me breathless.

This fabulous author once worked 14 hour days hoping for a corner office. Through her success she still felt empty and it wasn't until one day a psychic stopped her and told her she was an artist and she was missing her calling as successful writer.

Author Note: WHAT? Can I have her Pyschic?

Now of course it was months down the road before she took note... but, look at where she's at now. A published author who filled the void she'd always wanted filled.

These are stories that inspire. This is the exact reason I'm a writer and I love showcasing such amazing people on my blog. People like this are worth the space. She's incredible and you'd be wise to buy her book!

The cover is magical isn't it??? Head over to Goodreads, check out the blurb, and then head over to Amazon and buy this beauty!

You want more fun? You should! Here is her fabulous trailer! Also, if you want to hear the full story of how she became a writer check out her story!

What's your writing story?  Do you have an author that inspires you because of their story?

Whoa, you and I were channeling each other's brainwaves this morning. Take a look at my post about writing realities and inspiration and prepare to be astounded by how similarly we were thinking:)

I really don't know the story behind many of the authors I read. Except for my blogging buddy authors here. I guess I'd have to say they all inspire me.

That cover is gorgeous! Makes me feel...free and beautiful even though I'm only on my second cup of coffee. :) I'll definitely check out that book!

That is pretty cool when people leave good paying jobs for the artist's life. So inspiring. Esp. when they actually do well. :)

My Dad inspires me. He wrote what he thought was the best book of his career but no-one liked it so it sat in a drawer for five years! His French agent asked him 'Don't suppose you have anything else?' after publishing his back catalogue...he showed her the book. She loved it and sent it out...there was a bidding war and now he's No.7 in the UK top best sellers list for this year and was chosen by Richard and Judy for their autumn book read collection. I think that's pretty inspiring :-)

What an amazing story behind this book. Also this cover is beautiful. Thank you for writing about this book and author's story.

For some, it takes a psychic, for others maybe it's an encouraging spouse, or the realization that 9-5 desk jobs are BORING and there has to be more to life than this.

Please, tell her I'll pay to find out who her psychic is.

I'll always be inspired by my favorite writer, Aleksandr Isayevich Solzhenitsyn (still can't believe he died at only 89 instead of living to at least 100 to spite all those people who tried to silence him). He was willing to die for his writing, if need be, because he believed so strongly in it and publishing it the way he wanted to, not the way the Soviet censors wanted to. And he had all those novels, plays, stories, and prose poems memorized in his head in the labor camps for so many years. I also have had many of my books memorized in my head for many years before getting around to writing or typing them.

BEAU-tiful cover.
I want.

My husband said I had a great imagination and that I should just write for fun.
I started writing a story, and three hundred pages later it was done and I thought - Holy SH-- I just wrote a whole book.
Happy :D

I love stories like this. I've been where she was. I still am, to some extent, but I'm not putting my writing aside any longer. My current career is not important to me, it only pays the bills. I have no desire to move up in the financial industry. I just want to write and put my imagination to good use.

Love it when art and creativity are on the front burner instead of the wish list.

Wow, very cool story. I don't know that I would have taken that leap based off a psychic but I imagine it was sort of in her all along.

Wow, that's quite a story! And even more wonderful that Isabelle listened. I wish a random psychic would tell me something amazing, haha. Oh well, I guess I better be my own psychic!!

I love hearing about other author's lives. I gave up my "groundhog day" office job two years ago to write full-time and it's the best thing I ever did. Follow your dreams...
