Wednesday WiP

Wednesday! Half way through the work week (at least for me). I figured today I'd do a fun book post. I used to do Tuesday Twists and since those disappeared the moment I stopped posting on Tuesday's I thought bringing it back with a new twist would be fun!

For newbies... WELCOME... for oldies... WELCOME (you know the drill). I'll share the first sentence of three novels. You tell me what you'd read based on those sentences. What's the twist? I'm providing cover art at the bottom. Not in order, mind you. After all, this is to see what your eyes tell you. What draws you in the most? Do any look more intriguing with cover art? DISH!

For me personally, I've chosen books that I've either enjoyed or I'm looking forward to devouring! So, here we go!

1. "Your blood looks funny." (Title Reveal)
2. I'll never forget the glimpse of Winterhaven as we pulled up the long, curving drive-gray stones bathed in the lavender haze of dusk, looking like an old European university, all flying buttresses and stone spires reaching toward the sky. (Title Reveal)
3. It starts with a crack, a sputter, and a spark. (Title Reveal)

Any sound interesting? What about the cover art? What's the most striking?

I'm not really a descriptions person but I do like the second one.

HA, I'm biased. I loved the Near Witch so much that I recognized the quote:) Happy Wednesday Jen!

The first quote grabs me most. As for the cover, it's a toss up between The Near Witch and Lucy Burns.

Definitely number 3 b/c lately poetic writing has been more to capture me on a first page than anything else!

I didn't get any of them right :( I've not read these books, but I have to say that top cover there, The Near Witch, was the most intriguing cover. :) I'm a cover junkie, though. LOL!! :)

Creative Jen. Nothing like a short yet descriptive starter--the third one is a good one.

I haven't heard of Lucy Burns! But what an intriguing first line. Also, I desperately need to read The Near Witch. Moving that to the top of my TBR pile.

I hadn't heard of Lucy Burns, but as Meredith said above, that first line begs you to keep reading. Still have to read the other two!!!

For me it was The Near Witch in both sentence and cover. Now I have to put it on the list.

Oooh, loved #2 first sentence. And the #3 first sentence, too. Not thrilled with any of the cover art, but if I had to choose one, I'd choose #1.

Now back to find out the titles of the first sentences. This is such a fun game!

My favorite line was #1 because it had the greatest 'what the heck is going on here?' factor. It's just the strangest thing to say to someone. And The Near Witch was my favorite cover.

I liked the Near Witch cover the best. And the quote from number 1 is intriguing...

Fun. I'm going to go Near Witch on both, but I did like the "blood" line from Lucy.
