Fina - Fairy of Raslina

It's hard being part of the human world. My wings aren't an accessory, they're a part of me, they are who I am, but the last thing I need is to be known as a freak. Things weren't supposed to be this way, I am known as a traveling fairy, one who travels to the human world and other kingdoms to pick up certain supplies that we are lacking. This time wasn't that simple. Someone or something passed through the spells cast over Raslina and compromised our Kingdom, which means I'm stuck in the human world until they weed out the issue.

Welcome to my nightmare. Stuck here I now have to fit in, trust me this isn't easy. My best friend Elsa and I have never been apart, normally she is my support system but now I'm alone in a world I know nothing about. What's worse? I'm forced to attend High School to fit in better until Raslina allows all of us back.

My first attempt in the human world did not go well. It seems that my studies in Raslina, flunking didn't used to be my strong suit but I've recently picked it up and now it's stuck on me. That's when Jase offered to be my tutor. He's a hunk, sort of hard to say no. Until I met Erica, she's loved by all in High School, the popular girl, head cheerleader, you name it she has yet, all except Jase that is. That doesn't mean she doesn't want him. She does, and she's told me several times. It only makes it harder to work through. I'm just not used to all this stress, hopefully before Erica becomes even pushier I can go back home, at least before it's to late.

Oh, a fairy with a problem. I like that.

I feel bad for her. I know what it feels like to be stuck in a land you have no clue about and wanting to just go back home.

kisses, sweetie and have a wonderful MOnday

She's cute and sweet and I like that she's a twist on the normal fairy - usually they are very tricky and manipulative but she doesn't seem like that at all. Way to take a stereotype and reverse it!

Nice snippet Jen.

What fun! Can see the tension building. You've got a lot of great ideas to work with and there's so much I wanna know...like HOW does she hide the wings? Where is she living? On her own or with another human family (foster child?) Whose idea was going to high school? Is she allowed to have a relationship with a human? What happens if a human finds out she's a fairy?

See what you did to me?

It's great to see more about the world you're writing and the characters in it. Thanks for sharing!

I always end up with at least one typo every post so I have no room to point it out, but if you wanted to fix it, the second to last word should be "too". :o)

Have a great week, Jen!

Wait! So being a fairy isn't all pixie dust and potions? Who'd have thought? She has a sweet voice to her, an innocence that complements her nature but would definitely complicate things in the "human world."

Great job! I'm looking forward to reading the rest of your entries. :) <3

Very interesting character! I like the turn around of a fairy getting dumped into our world as opposed to the opposite which you would normally see. She sounds real sweet too. ;)

Creative. That's an interesting concept; a fairy stuck in the human world...and in high school. Clever.

Can't wait to hear more.

Ooh...intriguing! I definitely want to read more about this. I like that Erica wants Jase but doesn't have him - sounds like some great conflict coming up!

Oh fairies! My favorite! She's young, innocent in a way, but well versed because of her fairy studies. Good problem for her to have, love the forced to attend highschool. Makes me wonder if she lives with other fairies or if she lives as an exchange student with a human family. Thanks for posting this, I was actually thinking of doing this for my characters too- I did a one page try out last night on paper, I might post it.

Nice to learn about your character, Fina. I can see how it would be difficult to adjust to a new world. I like thinking of some being on the outside looking into the human world.

PS. Matt Brady personally thanks you for all you did with the library and J2W:)

I like it! There are a ton of human in a faerie world stories, but not nearly enough faerie in a human world stories. Super creative!

Reading all this awesome stuff is really making me kick myself for having writers block. I have all these ideas, and some great characters, but can't get anything out. I may try exercises like this. I'll try anything at this point.
