Truth Thursdays

Are we seriously here already? No, I'm not complaining, just pointing out the fact that once in the waiting game of the publishing world it messes with your mind. Days and dates are no longer something that you keep track of. Minutes, emails, and twitter is where it's at.

With that said maybe we should begin.

1. I'm addicted to book buying and author signings. I'm sure many writers or readers can say this. I'm just thankful my husband hasn't shaken it out of me yet. He hasn't even mentioned anything about it. In fact, we originally started with two bookshelves he insisted we get four (amazing right?).
2. I've become an appetizer connoisseur. Every time the hubby and I go out to dinner we choose a new appetizer (I'm not one to try new things so this is WAY out of my comfort zone) and so far it's paid off. Everyone has been delicious. What do I recommend the most? Sicilian Fire sticks from Carrinos!
3. I picked up a copy of Beastly by Alex Finn. It is delicious!!! However I must say that the trailer for the movie doesn't say anything to what I've been reading. The main character is very beastly in the book, in the movie it looks like he has some spirally tattoos. Cool, yes, beastly, not quite. Don't worry, that won't stop me from seeing the movie (it's the whole reason I picked the book up).
4. I made spritz cookies this past weekend! Oh my they were amazing. Guess making them only at Christmas doesn't apply to me (cuz I love breaking the rules).
5. I'm a half-asser when it comes to cooking. I have great ideas for cooking but frustrate easily causing my husband to take over. I'm not proud. I'm working on it (the steak burritos I thought up were amazing though!).

There you have it... five truths about me (as usual). Do they get boring (oh lord I hope not)?! Don't worry your answer won't change what I talk about, just the fact that you might visit less on Thursdays (though I hope you don't).

Dish...what.are.yours?

The beast is hairy in the book! I was shocked to see the veiny staple combo. I'll still watch it of course but...

Can I try one of your steak burritos? Sounds yum.

LOL a half asser as a cook! Okay, I'm a horrible cook. I love cooking shows and love the idea of cooking, but just can't do it. My hubby has to do it all:)

As a professional chef in a former life, I haven't made a full course meal in over 4 years. Monster Child eats Mac 'n Cheese and I eat whatever I feel like. Usually frozen chinese. (P.F. Changs beef and broccoli with minute rice is the bomb!)

I love cooking, but I go through phases where I'm half ass at it too -- usually when I'm editing -- and end up just eating cereal. LOL.

The appetizer idea sounds adventurous! My daughter is an awesome cook; not me. Maybe my un-cook-iness gave her room in the kitchen. :D

I left some truths on My Blog

Mmmmm, you're making me hungry with all this talk of food!!!

My truth for the week? I sat in my car this morning before work (in the parking deck), just to read some more of Across the Universe by Beth Revis. I waited until the last possible minute to put it down and come into the building. YES, it's that good. ;)

I love appetizers! Damn, I wish we went out to eat more :)

I agree about the slooooooow publishing world! And I hate waiting! I totally agree with the book buying addiction. It's a killer that my credit card is saved in my Amazon account. And now that I have a kindle...forget trying not to spend money on too many books! I down loadbooks all the time now too!

I was also thrown by the trailer. I guess this makeup was possibly cheaper or something? Strange, but I'll still see it. Movie+Book doesn't always equal accurate. And that's okay.
Um, truth about me? My obsession with Supernatural (Jensen Ackles) is becoming worse and I believe they need to set up a group for people like me who need help with Supernatural addiction. I'm decorating with photo's of them...it's bad. In my defense it is their last season. I'm just preparing to have my heart broken
:(
Love you!

I noticed the same thing about Beastly. I too will still go and watch the movie though.

I totally share in your book addiction and my cooking skills? Let's just say Hamburger Helper is my specialty. Yikes!

Lisa Aldin said...

Interesting! I've been wanting to read Beastly. I wonder why they changed that in the movie? I think I will read the book but Netflix the movie. Oh, my truth? I hate cooking! =)

Boring? Never haha

I too share your book addiction.... it's getting worse haha. Now I have an excuse to buy books for me and our child

I totally feel your pain with #1 and #5. My kids asked for mac-n-cheese last week and I was too cooking challenged for even that.

Heather said...

Ah yes, my new found addiction to book buying and author signings. All courtesy of my pusher, Kristin.

I could kick myself for not going to Lisa McMann now!!

I had takeout tacos two nights in a row. And they were delicious.

Oh, the book addictions . . . I think it will be the end of me! I'll slowly become buried in all my books. LOL.

I'm so with you on truth #1. I joined a challenge to go to 2 author talks/signings in March - easy for me.

And I'm a big fan of appetizers, but I tend to get the some types. Maybe I should branch out more like you.

A truth about me? I like even numbers. I can deal with odd ones, but even ones are best. When I grind pepper, I always stopped on an even number.

A truth about me is that I am the worst procrastinator with doing what I love, but the things I hate get done right away. How sick and twisted is that?

Hmmm....

I... have no idea what secrets to divulge. So I'll just leave you in suspense.

I sleep with a guy who is 4 years old. Now before you go , ugh, it is my grandson who must have his little hand on my arm for security and to fend off the monsters that live in our bathroom.

I don't cook 0 hubby does. I'm the baker. I've been meaning to learn how to cook more though - the main reason why I don't is because I don't know how to cook meat.

Emy Shin said...

Oh, I can't help but agree about BEASTLY. The beastly features in the movie trailer look more like elaborate tatoos more than anything else.

1) I play football but don't like soccer. Don't try to understand it, 'cause I don't either. :(

2) I love the fights on Jersey Shore, especially those between JWOW and Sammi.

3) I don't like ham - I find it to be a salty mess.

4) Titanic is the first ever chick flick I actually like. And probably the last (when she died, her soul went back to him, that's so beautiful).

5) While at work, I'll sneak 30mins at a time to play video games with my friends online. The boss is yet to know. God I hope he doesn't. Don't tell him, okay? :D

I love this. I hope we do this again soon.

I always look forward to Truth Thursdays! They are never boring. I'm with you on the book buying problem. It's a sickness with me. I think I should start trying appetizers now, too. Thanks for a fun post!

I love it when bloggers randomly post truths about themselves. It makes blogging more personal :D

Book addiction? Who? Not me...-_-

Elana Johnson said...

I like to eat entire meals of appetizers. No lie.

I love book signings.

I love your pink picture in the sidebar.

Straylights said...

Lie: I am not a book addict
Truth: I bought six books in two days.

Alex J. Cavanaugh said...

My wife half-asses when cooking. Crap, I guess that's her truth not mine.

Janet Johnson said...

Some rules were made for breaking (like the Christmas cookie thing).

My truth: I prefer baking to cooking (which does not make for healthy dinners). :)

Marsha Sigman said...

I hate cooking. I only like the eating part.

I think onion rings should be considered a meal.

Abby Minard said...

It's cool that you try different appetizers! I'm not that brave ;p I hate cooking- I think I'm too impatient. I just want it done fast. I love books and author signings too- except we don't get much where we are ;p

Jemi Fraser said...

I just bought Beastly for my classroom - it'll be a while before I get to read it though - it was snatched up really quickly!

alexia said...

I'm a half-ass cooker, too. My husband tries to intervene, and then I get offended. Most of the time, it's burritos, spaghetti or mac n cheese when I'm making dinner! And everybody better like it :)

hahaha you make me laugh!! ;D

We rarely cook in our house anymore. Lately I've been mostly just having salad. Or sometimes cereal if I'm lazy. I often will fix myself breakfast after my wife goes to work.
I like appetizers, but if I order any it usually takes the place of dinner since I don't eat as much as I used to.
I love buying books, but can't afford to many these days. I have never been to an author signing, but if I saw that one was going to be nearby I might go.

LOL. I'm a half-asser too! I'd eat out every night if I could.

I think Hollywood wouldn't dare to make one of their hot young actors look truly Beastly - though the movie does look decent.
