Carrie Bradshaw minus the sex

Someone last week told me I reminded them of Carrie Bradshaw. Apparently my blog has a certain something laid on the table.

Since I'm, well, me, I decided I should disect the situation until I came to the truth.

For the record: I adore Carrie and the Sex and The City gang. It seems when writing this post I was in a snarkier mood therefore it may come off as.... snappish (yes I'm using Hannah's phrase from the comments). LONG LIVE THE COCKTAIL QUEENS!

In ways I'm like Carrie...

I'm blonde.
I can make bad decisions when picking out clothing.
Shoe hoarding would be possible if I was a fictional character with lots of money.

In ways I'm not like Carrie...

I don't sleep with every available guy (even if she claims it's 'research').
I don't get paid for my awesome posts.
I never cheated on Aidan.
I don't have uptight, overworked, sex addict friends.

Wow. This blogger is right. I am Carrie Bradshaw, minus the sex, the emotional instability, and the over the top friends.

Thank you avid follower for bringing this to my attention. Your flattery has gotten you everywhere. Keep on keepin' on.

Who do you remind people of? Dare I ask who you think I remind you of?

LOLOL! Okay, this sounded a little snarky or am I over-analyzing it? Hehehehehe ....

wow, I had never noticed the similarities, LOL

I don't even know who Carrie Bradshaw is! And heaven help anyone who looks like me. :) One of us in the world is quite enough.

Hahaha! I only watched the first disc of Season 1 before my (very preggo) friend had her baby, and I never got to see more! So I can't be a good judge! As far as looks, I used to get Kate Winslet all the time when I waitressed (not a bad comparison at all!), and my husband says I'm like Mama Bear Bernstein of the Bernstein Bear books, but maybe that's just because I wear a polka dotted housedress every day (kidding! Though he does compare me to her an awful lot!). I thought Carrie was way cool, as are you!

Who is Carrie Bradshaw? Carrie sounds cool.

I adore Carrie and the rest of the Sex and The City gang! They're fabulous and it really was an honor when someone shared their thoughts about my blog!

If you can borrow copies Elizabeth do so! If you lived close I'd have a SATC marathon!

I think the Bradshaw reference is pretty good and probably because of your sweet, honest appeal. :) As for myself--I have four kids. They compare me to someone new every day. 'Nuf said. lol

I would definitely know if you reminded me of anyone else, but I'm not detecting any radar yet.
As far as looks, I've been compared to Liv Tyler. But I've also had a many random people call out to me with their friend's name, thinking I'm their friend....so I guess I just look like everybody else. =P

You just remind me of you! Nobody tells me I remind me of them of anybody, but I think I look like Tina Fey when I wear my glasses - haven't gotten a lot of agreement on that one from other people, though.

People say that I remind them of Rosario Dawson...even The Man says that. I don't see it.

But I only go as far as looks when people say that stuff. I don't do personality comparisons because I think everyone is unique. :D

And do you not like Sex and the City? I loves it, but you sound a little snappish about it. LOL

Since I am a guy and always watching football/baseball/basketball, I would have nothing to add to this compare and contrast exercise.

Anyway, I enjoy your humorous content.

Lol! Love this post. I've been told I'm like Miranda. I must be have a lot of bitter and cold moments...or people think that I'm a fictional straight woman and really a lesbian? Wow, I might have to think on this one.

LOL!!! This is awesome. I've never really been told I remind someone of someone....that I can remember, anyway. LOL

Snarky is good, and I wish I could say anyone said I resembled someone as cool as Carrie Bradshaw. But nah, not so much.

Yes, I'm the only woman who didn't watch Sex in The City, so I can't say you remind me of her. Lol I have no idea who I remind others of. Someone in a mental institution, no doubt.

You never cheated on Aidan? That makes you top dog in my book. LOL!
I'm told I remind people of Reese Witherspoon or Keira Knightley. I've never been compared to a literary character. I wish someone would so I can write an awesome post like you did to shoot them down.

I never really got into Sex and the City, but I loved this post. :) I don't know if I remind anyone of anything... but maybe I should do some soul-searching and find my identity twin. :D Haha, I am waaaay too lazy to do that.

Hee, hee. I don't know you well enough to comment yet, but I loved that post!

I've never ever watched an episode of Sex and the City. Haven't had/made the time to.

Love the post and it is fascinating when folk tell you they are reminded of someone famous when they see you. But who is Carrie?? Never watched sex and the city. Am I sad or what??

Your snark is approved - keep at it!

I have a friend who likes to think she's Carrie! I wonder if they were comparing your blog to her columns? Minus the sex, of course. Just in the way you write, maybe. Loved Sex and the City, though!

Very humorous post, Jen :-) Hmmm...I get the "you look familiar to me" every once in awhile. I'm thinking it's because maybe they've seen me around our small town :-) No celebrity comparisons lately. Though I had a few in the past that I'll leave in the past.

All I saw was "Carrie" and "Sex". *grins* Kidding, kidding. Fun post, Jen!

lol! I can't think of anyone you remind me of, but I do like your sense of humor. That's why so many people love your blog!

Love Sex and the City. Your humor does remind me a little of Carrie's, minus the sex of course. ;) I have been told I look a little like Keira Knightley, but I don't see it. Once again, great blog.

Too funny!

You know, I hadn't ever really considered Carrie Bradshaw beyond her sex and the city role. So on that part it, would be hard to agree or disagree with the comparison. Did you ever have an on-again off-again love affair with someone who thrived on being called Mr. Bigs?

I haven't been compared blog-wise but have had an occasion or two where someone compared me to Queen Latifah.

Donea Lee said...

That's great! :) I LOVE SatC! And for the record, I wouldn't have cheated on Aidan, either.... there's a great ease and wonderful attitude about your posts ~ I can see the Carrie reference that way. And I haven't been compared to anyone famous in awhile. I could ask my 13-year-old, but I'm afraid of what she'd say!!! :P

What a fun comparison! I hate to think who I remind people of - too scared to ask!!! :)

I also adore Sex and the City and I wouldn't have cheated on poor Aiden either!

Fabulous post!

Love the Carrie Bradshaw comparison. I'd take it as a compliment and I kinda think you are almost required to now post a picture of yourself rocking a tutu inspired dress!

Now I'm stalking you and found your blog- I love it!

FYI - I have actually been mistaken for Cynthia Nixon in public a few times. Once in a restaurant a girl wouldn't believe that I wasn't her. She wanted an autograph.

I like Sex and the City, from time to time. Hmm, I think I'm a female version of Mr. Darcy.
