Kick Ass Quotes

So I figured If CrAzY please apply was so successful we should continue with some awesome inspiration and motivational crap that makes us feel more together as a whole writing community. I mean if we don't stick together everyone will think we're crazy so here are some fun things I've recently come by!!!

1. Make eavesdropping a way of life. {I mean how else are you going to come up with some good shizz?}

2. Writing fiction is a matter of sitting down to tell yourself a good story. {It aint gonna write itself}

3. If you don't return calls from your muse, there's a chance they'll stop calling. {so listen up people because if you don't they'll find someone else who will}

4. It is better to write poorly than to not write at all. {Go ahead... suck it up!}

5. Every good writer is a sponge: soak it up, wring it out. {You might wanna change it sometimes too... no one wants to be known as the smelly sponge of the bunch}

Feel free to add any extras if you have them!!!

BTW - Sorry I've been a bad blog commentor this week, I've been working hard on my revisions and had to put something aside, but fear not because next week I am to be on my best behavior!! Hooray for finishing post-it revisions!!

You know that eavesdropping point has got me thinking ... how long is it going to be until I can't write realistic conversations in English? I mean, I live in Greece. Conversation is completely different. Do you think I'll ever 'lose touch'? Ewww, worried now ...

Sorry, I'm laughing because I have this image of Jessica touching hairy, sweaty, Greek men now.

I like the sponge comment. That's what I say when I have to join a group (I was part of a marketing group for awhile, and there was a study group)...I'm there to be a sponge. I'll decide later what's important enough to keep.

Have a fabulous Friday!

Uh-oh! I better hurry and call the muse back! I don't want her running off! Gah!

Revisions *sigh* Well, at least you are done! 9With this round) Is it the last round?

I like numbers 1 & 2, especially 2. Just yesterday, in fact, I found myself stuck at the gameroom with my son and with no book in hand. Then I remembered my own books in my trunk and pulled one out to read while he played video games. Have to say, it was a damn good story ;-)

"If you don't return calls from your muse, there's a chance they'll stop calling" - or worse still will call you reverse/transfer charge. That happened to me, so I went ex-directory. Haven't had much inspiration since then.

Amusing post. Thanks.
All the best, Boonsong

These are fun - and a good bit of truth in each one.

Congrats on getting a round of edits done! Keep up the good work :)

Realize that becoming an experienced writer is going to partially ruin reading for you. {Except for those amazing books that just wash over you and never let go - those ones get even better}

Great post Jen, thanks!

I loved what Kensington editor Kate Duffy used to say:
Get off the internet and write!

LOL! So true. :)

These are brilliant... my favorite and one I haven't heard? The one about being a sponge (and not being a smelly one!!)

Thanks for the inspiration Jen.. I need it today!

Smelly sponges are the worst, aren't they? We had one once and it really stunk the whole place up - yucko. Love that quote, Jen! Happy weekend!

wow, this is brilliant! I cannot think of anything to add, though. But I like the first one the best - eavesdropping isn't wrong. In other words - we're all stealing. But everyone's stealing everything from others all the time, so it's all good I guess

Congrats, on finishing revisions. Writing is fun. Rewriting can be like having a root canal, a painful necessity.

Great quotes! I feel like if I can't write beautifully, then I shouldn't write that day, but then I end up getting nothing done...
