Stephanie over at the Writers Cocoon is giving away a copy of her book A Bitch Named Karma (I WAN'T IT) she needs five more followers by today, so if you could please hop over and help me out, and her with her awesome novel I'd appreciate it!! ;)

May your weekend be filled with many inspired works! Just to help with the inspiration here are a few quotes and inspiring sentences from Writer's Little Instruction Book by Paul Raymond Martin

1. Trust your hunches

"trust your hunches... hunches are usually based on facts filed away just below the conscious level. Warning! Do not confuse your hunches with wishful thinking. This is the road to disaster." - Dr. Joyce Brothers

2. See life as it is, but write about life as it might be.

3. What works, what doesn't

"If it's working, keep doing it.
If it's not working, stop doing it.
If you don't know what to do, don't do anything." - Dr. Melvin Konner

4. The road to unfinished work is paved with good intentions.

5. The road to published work is always under construction.

Happy Writing!!!

PS - I'm going to see Eat, Pray, Love this evening and if you haven't heard of it please snag the book, you won't be disappointed!!! Squee!!

I love that about hunches being based on facts filed away just below the conscious level - I think that is so true. Thanks for the quotes, and have a great weekend!

Isn't #5 the truth! Felt like I was wrapping up with a novel only to discover I think I need to rewrite the whole beast.

nice list! esp. #1 and #5... not so sure about #3. doing things is a great way to learn what works and what doesn't. doing nothing gets you nowhere.

If you don't know what you're doing, don't do anything.

That's me. Thanks Jen. Happy Friday.

I love #5.

Enjoy the movie. I'm not sure if I'll get around the reading the book. My YA TBR pile is tumbling (and I own a lot of the books already--so I have to read them first). I'm going to reread one of my Robin Cook books soon (from my medical thriller days), which will be the first non YA book I've read in 2 + years. ;)

Have a great weekend, Jen. :D

I agree that you should trust your hunches! I can't tell you how many times doing that has saved me much pain and suffering!

Fine advice! I've wrestled with some of these issues with my novel currently on submission. My critique group gave me all sorts of feedback - some of it made sense but a few things didn't feel right. I had to trust my gut.

I like the last quote. We must get our manuscript to the point that it's tight, but there's always room for improvement. It's never really done, is it?

Enjoy the movie!

And don't walk under a latter today. Well really - you don't want paint to spill on you.

I love the "trust your hunches" advice! Maybe that's how I am "pantstering" my way through the current WIP.

I keep thinking, "This is it. You're stuck now. You're going to have delete some chapters and do massive revisions!" But then I realize, "You're not stuck. THIS has to happen next ..."

Thanks for the insight, Dr. Joyce!

Looking forward to your blogfest next week! It's my first! Are there rules/directions for what the post should contain?

Great advice Jen! Have a great time at the movie! I'm debating if I should read the book first or see the movie. I always hate it when the movie is completely different from the book.
