we all have a super power

Super powers... who doesn't want them! An awesome gift you are born with, the ability to do something above the ordinary. Of course as writers we already possess a super power, but one is never enough right!?

My MC has a power, in fact the whole book is based on the ability she and others have. The ability to travel, now this is no ordinary gift but is any power ordinary? She finds that the power she is given comes at a price, a price not many are willing to pay, a price she's not even sure she is willing to pay. Here's the deal though she was born into it so she really doesn't have a choice, she can pretend it doesn't exist and become a roamer but that is a lonely and unused life, a path that many choose but she knows it's the wrong path.

It got me thinking about writing, we have these awesome gifts, these powers to write however at times it comes at a price, seeing family less, not hanging out with friends, letting the dishes and laundry go for just a few extra days to get just a few extra thousand words down on paper, however without writing we are really just roamers like my MC, an unhappy unused life so it only make sense that the path we must choose is the path of powers and we just have to learn to seperate our time wisely.

So along with the power of writing what other power or gift would you love to possess? Would you pay a price?

I love this post! I would love to read minds. I'm nosy so I think it would be neat to hear what people think. I would pay the price I know my MC is:0

I'm curious to know what price your MC is paying... mine is paying the ultimate and it means losing everyone she once loved!

Reading minds would rock! I also would love to be able to fly...

Funny you bring it up, I'm just starting a superhero novel in which my 2 MC's end up with powers, and I'm absolutely adoring one of their powers, the ability to teleport by opening wormholes/portals.

But also, what good power comes without a price? Great question.

Hmm, a super power. I think I'd want to be like the Flash and be able to clean the house really fast! I'd be willing to sleep for an extra hour or two if I could get more done!

Yay for MCs with powers!! Mine is in a similar vein (but hopefully completely different at the same time).

I've always wanted the ability to speak and understand every language that I came into contact with. Now, in a movie or something, the price would probably be that I was blind or deaf, cuz that'd be ironical and such, but I don't know if I'd be willing to pay that price.

Cheree - Sounds intriguing!

Portia - Great idea!!!

MeganRebekah - MC's with powers rock!!!

Summer - Awesome idea!!! I never thought about that but what a power to be able to have!!!! Ooo I love hearing what everyone else dreams of having! I'm with you, not willing to sacrifice.

The ability to clean my house with the wiggle of my nose. Then I'd have more time to write. :D

I have no idea what price I would place on that, because there's nothing I'm willing to give up for it.

I'd love to be able to kill with my thoughts.

On the other hand, these streets would be littered with bodies...

Loved this post! I'd like to be able to know what people are thinking, not all day long, perhaps an hour or two each morning. Would I pay a price for this? Definitely not!

Stina - I'm with you, though my character is forced to pay the price I'm not willing to and since I don't have to I'm good!

Diandra - What a thought, but you're right the minute you think that could be a cause for disaster!

T.Anne - Ahh yes the simple ones, I think just trying it for a day would be nice!

Kittie - Great idea, a few hours, I would choose mine to be later in the day since the only thoughts I hear in the morning are my own!

Great post! Remember the Harry Potter when Hermione was able to mess with time so she could get lots of stuff done? I'd like to be able to do that.

Invisibility. I already feel like I am most of the time so why not make it official? Hehe!

I'd also like to be a wizard... but everyone already knows that.

And I'd probably pay a price, if I had to. I'm sure the pay-off would make up for it....

Like, I'd get to meet Draco Malfoy.

That's a really cool concept! Let's see . . . I'd want to be able to have five of me so I could explore different careers without any single one being affected.

You guys are way to much fun!!!

Dawn - I think I'm right there with you! Hermione rocked my socks off with her time messing thing!

E. Elle - I'm there!!!! I want to be a wizard as well!!! I am very enticed by this, I might pay a price for this... I suppose it just depends what it is! Ahh your not invisible! I see you!!!

Amy - An interesting approach... I love it!!

I think my super hero power (besides doing laundry) should be stopping time. I would get so much done!

I would definitely LOVE to possess the power of organization. I am scatterbrained and random. My stuff is scattered and I never put anything back where it should be. I'm a mess! I so, so wish I was organized. :-)

I want to hear what people are thinking!

And yes, i would pay a price to get it... I don't know what... but something big! haha

Can I have the power to eat anything I want and not gain weight? :)

I'm so busy coping with the one power I have, of writing, that I don't know if I could deal with another.

Maybe the power to... No. Or maybe... No. How 'bout... No.

Aha! I have it. I'd like to be able to shoot lightning out of my fingertips at people. And when the lightning hit them they'd agree with everything I said. Why is it necessary for me to hit people with lightning just so they agree with me? It's not. I just want the pleasure of shooting lightning at people and seeing their hair stand on end. Making them agree with me is a bonus.

Awesome post. I love super powers. :)

I'd like the power to stop time so I can get anything done and still have time left over. But -- if time were stopped, would all the people be frozen in time, too? Wouldn't I be lonely?

Hmmm, I like the idea of being able to fly.

Being bale to move really fast would also be handy, for the reasons Portia mentioned.

Great post. :o)

My mc's can hear each other's thoughts (a side effect of a vaccine they were given as children.) But they can also block each other out when they don't want the other one to hear. That would be a pretty cool superpower, though annoying at times, too, since it goes both ways.

Telepathy for sure! That way, while I was writing I could have the vacuum running, the Swiffer duster working and laundry folding itself. Yay!!
