Hello newbies! This is one of my favorite posts… I’ll share three sentences below and you tell me which one’s you would read based on the sentence! Then click the link to see what novel you chose! Share your thoughts!
The Sentences
1. The first time I met Josh, I thought he was a nice guy but a transient friend. (Note: For this one the second sentence won me over… but the rules are the first sentence. Boo).
2. I can be so, so quiet.
3. Starting middle school might feel like the scariest thing in the world to you right now.
The Secrets
1. Book #1
2. Book #2
3. Book #3
So what would you read? I chose differently this week. Ones a standalone, ones part of a series and the other is just plain random. Care to guess what's what before you click the links?

Based on the first line I picked book 1. If I had two choices I would pick the second one too, it's intriguing :)
I'd also pick book #1, based on the sentence. Now I'm curious about its second sentence.
The second one interested me, but I stopped reading after the first book in the series.
Wonder what that 2nd line is in the first one.
Book one hooked me because of the shift in gears mid sentence. And I would sooo buy this book.
I would have gone with #2 - and I'm in the middle of that series so I'm not surprised I liked it :)
I picked #2. The 'quiet' factor intrigued me. Usually the quiet ones are the ones you have to look out for or are the ones who turn out to be the exciting type!
It was number one for me. "Transient friend" got me.
see, I would've gone w/#2, but honestly, I was sorta let down by these... You had me interested in #1, so I went to Amazon and looked at the first page. I like Sentence #3 even better! :D <3
From those first sentences, I'd pick book #1. And I'd have to agree with LTM - the first three sentences of book 3 are great!
I'd pick number one, too. Which book is it?
Oh that was fun! I picked #3 because that is exactly how I felt :)
Most likely the second one, although I don't normally read books in the first person.
Book #2.
(Cheated though, I knew what it was, I listened to her read from her first chapter enough times that it's burned in my memory. *sigh* I love her.)
hi miss jen! i picked 3 cause thats how i could feel if i ever got going at a for real middle school. then i went and looked and ACK! its a girly book!!! yeeech! ha ha.
...hugs from lenny
I'd pick number 1. And then I clicked on the link and it's Jane Green, so I'd definitely read that! Curious to see what line 2 is...
I vote for #2. I haven't clicked to see what book it is and I have no clue..not even a guess, but my mind is going a little bonkers with the so, so quiet part.....*wicked grin*
Fun! I clicked on number 1 and then Amazon gave it a semi-terrible review (although they did say it was impossible to put down). Still sounds like a fun read.
#2 for me; Love Maggie Stievfater!
Well, I picked #1, because I wanted to know about sentence 2.
And I devoured #2 already. Yum.
I like the second one!
I chose number one--even without the seciond sentence! LOL
I picked #2, that intrigued me. I've never read that series either and now I'm adding it to my list. Fun post!
#2. I haven't read these books but I keep running into them...
This would be a great exercise while writing a MS and working out your opening!
I chose #2. I like the eerie way it comes off. No surprise I just won that same book in a giveaway too. (Hugs)Indigo
I chose # 2! However, after clicking the links, I think I'll be checking out the first book.
I picked the first one, and it looks like a book I'd like. This is a fun post!
The order in which I'd pick/read are:
- Book 2
- Book 3
- Book 1
As you can see I don't always play by the rules, LOL. I like when you do these posts.
I chose #2 and was very surprised to learn that it was Forever! I don't usually read that kind of book :-)
