Tuesday Twist

Here is another edition of Tuesday's Twists! Below I have three novels that I've read, would love to read, or would love you to read! Of course as always share your thoughts about each synposis!!!

First Synopsis: Chick Lit
Perpetually discombobulated but adorable Annabelle Granger inherits her grandmother's matchmaking business, renames it Perfect for You and targets Chicago's super-rich, super-aggressive sports agent Heath Champion, better known as the Python, as her first client. Intrigued by this spunky, determined upstart, Heath—who is dead set on finding the ultimate trophy wife by age 35—agrees to give Annabelle a chance despite his contract with Portia Powers of Power Match. Soon Annabelle is introducing him to the Windy City's most extraordinary women, none of whom seem to meet Heath's discriminating standards. Could it be because chemistry has sparked between the matchmaker and her client? From trading barbs the two progress to exchanging kisses—and more. But when Heath finally meets his should-be dream girl and Annabelle's business threatens to go bellyup, they each must face their deepest feelings and make some difficult decisions in the name of love. Phillips has once again created a delightful page-turner.

Second Synopsis: Suspense
From a top secret government laboratory come two genetically altered life forms. One is a magnificent dog of astonishing intelligence. The other, a hybrid monster of a brutally violent nature. And both are on the loose...

Bestselling author Dean Koontz presents his most terrifying, dramatic and moving novel: The explosive story of a man and a woman, caught in a relentless storm of mankind’s darkest creation...

Third Synopsis: Young Adult
Before Carrie Bradshaw hit the big time in the City, she was a regular girl growing up in the suburbs of Connecticut. How did she turn into one of the most-read social observers of our generation?

The Carrie Diaries opens up in Carrie's senior year of high school. She and her best friends -- Walt, Lali, Maggie, and the Mouse -- are inseparable, amid the sea of Jens, Jocks and Jets. And then Sebastian Kydd comes into the picture. Sebastian is a bad boy-older, intriguing, and unpredictable. Carrie falls into the relationship that she was always supposed to have in high school-until a friend's betrayal makes her question everything. With her high school days coming to a close, Carrie will realize it's finally time to go after everything she ever wanted.

Rabid fans of Sex and the City will love seeing Carrie Bradshaw evolve from a regular girl into a sharp, insightful writer. They'll learn about her family background -- how she found her writing voice, and the indelible impression her early friendships and relationships left on her. We'll see what brings Carrie to her beloved New York City, where the next Carrie Diaries book will take place.

What's your order??

Here are the titles:
Match Me If You Can by Susan Elizabeth Phillips
Watchers by Dean Koontz
The Carrie Diaries by Candace Bushnell

Tomorrow is the Internal Conflict Blogfest! Be sure to check mine out!!! Also last night I was able to revise 6100 words! I'm so elated, I've adjusted the chapter format and getting rid of too much information! I thiink I finally have it down! Hows your writing going?

Oh, I'm afraid I wouldn't read any of these, actually.

One, I refuse to read any Dean Koontz book since I was traumatized in the first Odd Thomas book (I'm a romance reader and this book broke my heart). I did finish the the series cuz my OCD demands it, but I won't read anything else he writes. He's a genius, but I never know what kind of ending I will face and my sensitive little heart can't take it! ;-)

I'm not a fan of Sex in the City, so Carrie's dairy is out.

And the first one sounded interesting, but it reminded me too much of millionare matchmaker and I'm not a fan.

Hmmm...did I ever tell you I was a picky reader? Heehee.

Actually, I might read the first one, but that's it. Does chick lit have happy endings? I can't stand stuff that doesn't have happy endings. If it does, I would read it.

I've never read Dean Koontz, so I think I might give this one a read, it looks intriguing.

The first one didn't hook my interest really. The second one is not my style but seriously intrigues me and I'd be willing to give it a go. And, The Carrie Diaries? Hell yeah!

I really liked the Carrie Diaries synopsis. You really captured the essence of that book and made me want to go and buy it. But good job on all of them.

And good job on the manuscript work. Sounds like you're really getting in there and tightening everything up. High five!

I KNEW it was 'Match me if You Can'! I loved that book. And the Carrie Diaries sounds awesome. I once had a sex and the city marathon when I was dating this metrosexual turkish guy in college. I still get excited when I hear the theme song.
Anywhoo, the writing is going well. I'm staying away from the recently finished ms and have been sporatically brainstorming scenes to a third. My first is out on submission and I probably won't go back to it until i hear from the agents who have it. Good job on your revising!

Um yeah Carrie Bradshaw! And my writing...we'll just not go there.

Watchers is one of my favorite books! I'm not much for Dean Koontz' later stuff (way too much gore, cruelty and sadness) but some of his earlier books are wonderful. His characters are deep and his plots intriguing. If you like Watchers, try Lightning.

The Carrie Diaries by Candace Bushnell is hands down my first choice! (and I have to admit, not so sure about the other two.)

And congrats on getting your writing mojo back! That is so awesome!

I wouldn't read any of these.

I like Dean Koontz, have read a few, but I can't do scary things at all anymore.

Not a Sex/Carrie fan, so that doesn't interest me.

Chick Lit has to be extraordinarily good/well-written/catchy to interest me in any way. And that synopsis sounds like oness I've seen a hundred times before.

Wow, I'm a total B this morning, lol. Sorry.

I pick Watchers all the way!

Way to go on your revisions - keep up the good work :)

Hey Jen, thanks so much for commenting on my blog - I'm so glad you did, because I'm very excited to meet another writer in progress. I'm writing as well and so excited about it, but it feels a bit lonely at times. So it's nice to connect with someone climbing the same big mountain! I'm looking forward to following your blog!

The Watchers is one of my favorite books by Koontz. A very good read! The other two aren't really my cup of tea. :)

Hi Jen,
I've surprised myself by concluding I'd read The Carrie Diaries first! Then Match me if you Can, then Watchers. I dteuggle a little with suspense and thrillers in novels, yet adore them on screen. Maybe because Carrie is so well known I'm intrigued about her background?? Thanks for the comments on the blog today, and you're right, the garden is beautiful, and the book definately worth looking at. After a 4 week hiatus I'm back at my laptop polishing book 2 which should be out later this year. Hope you're well, hugs, K xx

I'm not sure I get what's going on here. Are those your synopses or are they from the books? Honestly I have read Dean Koontz before and it was pretty good, but I probably would not pick up any of these books. I'm sure they're great but my TBR pile just keeps growing and growing ...

MTeacress said...

Wow, you really made some great headway. 6100 words is impressive. Good job!
I'm picking through a chapter a day, mostly looking for POV problems. :)

Saw your comment on my blog Jen, now I get it!

Talli Roland said...

Yay for your wonderful revising! That's great. I picked the Carrie Diaries - I love SATC so much I couldn't help it!

Watchers is one of my favorite Dean Koontz books. I read it when I was about 11 or 12. I remember being in love with the concept of a dog as smart as a human. I wished our dog could be like Einstein. LOL!

Christina Lee said...

OOH good ones. I lurve me some Koontz, and I AM curious about the Carrie Diaries (it knocked Hunger Games out of the top spot on NYT list).

Crystal Cook said...

Look at all that great revising you're doing. Just awesome :)

I don't know which one I would read, I'm probably most curious about the Koontz book, but I'm a big chicken so would probably have to sleep with the lights on for like a month if I read it :)

Laura S. said...

Of course I'd check out Dean Koontz because we have the same university alma mater! #1 seems predictable, but I'd still read it. I'm not a huge SATC fan, but I'd read the book. :)

Good choices, Jen, as usual!

Samantha Bennett said...

Hmmm... never read Koontz. Would probably try that one. Sounds creepy in a good way! Great reviews!

Ann said...

I would read the Carrie Diaries. Enjoyed your synopsis of all three though.

Glad to hear you are finding the writing again.

Shannon O'Donnell said...

I've always loved Dean Koontz, but I guess I'm a little twisted like that! The Carrie Diaries sounds pretty good too. :-)

I feel so outta this world! I have never read any of the books you always blog about! I better start, they are interesting.

Oh darling, thanks. My mom thinks my room looks like a shrine. Every space has been taken up by my paintings/drawings/doodle........
haha

LOVE!

That's it.

Ha mine is the same order as yours (and p.s. I bought that book from Barnes and Noble!) you know the one with the vampire rents and steamy boy. ;)

Lola Sharp said...

Love your new picture. :)

I like Koontz, but haven't read him in years.

Congrats on the revisions!

Love,

I've never read any Dean Koontz, so I'd probably read that one.

Excellent news on the revisions. :)

Carolyn V. said...

Ohhhh! They all sound so good. More to read!

Jemi Fraser said...

#1 & #3 sound like fun summer reads. #2 wouldn't work for me - I'm a total wimp. King's The Shining was the first and only horror book I read - still have nightmares :)

Christina Farley said...

I suppose I'd vote for Carrie Diaries. Good luck on your writing!

Susan Fields said...

I'm going to say...
(1) Carrie Diaries
(2) Watchers
(3) Match Me If You Can

Another fun Tuesday Twist - thanks!

Alissa Grosso said...

They sound like some fun books. So, Candace Bushnell is cashing in on the whole YA market. Interesting.

Shannon said...

I think I'd have to start with the Carrie Diaries. Not sure if the other two really hook me.

Jennifer Shirk said...

I read Match Me if You Can. It is absolutely HILARIOUS.
