No, this will not be a talk about the five senses (six if you’re lucky). It’s a song that I’m addicted too. You know when you find that one song that describes everything you’re feeling at that exact moment? It’s captivates you, holds you and never lets go.
This one’s titled Touch by Natasha Bedingfield. I don’t know what it is about the song but it has me hitting replay every time.
It also had me thinking about my writing and how I feel all the emotions when a certain song hits me. Touch is definitely one that added the missing ingredient while I was writing.
I’m starting a new short story, this one is wedding related and this song just seems perfect. It’s like a story leading up to the love of a lifetime. While writing women’s fiction I do love feel good music, normally a beat that you can dance too. That doesn’t mean it’s the only thing that drives me, it just pushes me through the lighter portions of the story.
I also apply this to my reading. When I’m looking for strength I go for Elizabeth Gilbert’s Eat, Pray, Love she empowers women to make a change in their life if needed. If I’m looking for a poetic read I go for Jessica Bell’s String Bridge. She’s amazing at weaving her characters through very complicated situations and coming out a winner. These women touch my heart just like Natasha Bedingfield.
Who’s touched your heart lately?

Totally agree, Elizbeth Gilbert totally empowers me and I've been listeing to Norah Jones lately while working. I love ther music. Happy Wednesday, darling. xo
It's that time of year where all the holiday commercials are so sentimental that they make me cry. :)
What a lovely post. I don't know the song, but recently Snow Patrol's newest has touched me!
AW honey, what a lovely post! I'm thrilled that my writing touches your heart. Thank you so much! You should listen to Aimee Mann. I think you'd really like her. This is one song I especially ADORE: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DsqCl2vO9xA
I hope you find time to listen the whole way through. This song touches my heart more an more every time I listen to it.
I don't know the song, but now you have me wanting to hear it!
What empowers me? Lately...I'm not sure. And I'm not sure what that means. Maybe it's time to find something.
Lately, my heart has been touched by the outpouring of love for our blog friends and their new releases--Susan Quinn, Ali Cross, Shelli Johannes, Karen Amanda Hooper, and Jessica Bell. :-)
I haven't heard this song yet. I'm going to look it up on Grooveshark. Thanks!
Actually it feels like I've been touched in the head lately. Somebody make the calendar slow down!!!!
I will look it up. Jessica's music, Norah Jones and Sam Brown all keep me company while I write.
I've been on a Foo Fighters kick lately. Their songs are so poetic, but you almost don't notice because you're too busy rockin' out.
Music will always be an inspiration for me, as will books!
Several new albums have come out lately and I'm rocking to many bands.
(Although my first answer would be my wife, but that may not be appropriate for this post...)
Ooooh love that song--nice post!
oh and congrats on all your good news lately!!! :-)))
