Blog Action Day

Quick Note: I'm being interviewed!!! I know I know... super dose of awesome! The fabulous Clara over at Pinches of Madness so please check it out!! Wait!! Read my post then go :)

One day. One Issue. Thousands of voices.

Blog Action Day.

3700+ bloggers have come together to empower a nation one ONE topic.

Water.

A huge thanks to Bish for letting me know this was going on. I use this blog to talk about writing, my life, my woes, my struggles, but I never take time to take a look at the bigger picture. My blog has grown and with that I should join a force that is worth fighting.

What does the world talk about online?

GADGETS HANDBAGS BOOKS WRITING LIFE FRIENDS TV SHOWS HOLIDAYS

What if, on October 15th, the same thing is talked about EVERYWHERE.

Something that effects all of us.

Something that can fuel for life, or cause death.

Water. Why Water?

Because almost a BILLION people don't have access to clean water. Because every week 42000 people die from unsafe water. Because clear water could become the SCARCEST resource of the 21st century.

Water is a Health Issue.
Water is a Human Rights Issue.
Water is a Global Issue.

Children: Every week, nearly 38,000 children under the age of 5 die from unsafe drinking water and unhygienic living conditions.
Polluted Oceans: Not only is pollution bad for the environment, it’s also expensive! Death and disease caused by polluted coastal waters costs the global economy $12.8 billion a year.
Water & Poverty: A lack of water contributes to poverty, with parents and children too ill or too busy collecting water to go to school and work.

So that's what I learned. I'm a lot more knowledgeable because of this. To visit other blogs and learn more about the shortage of water feel free to stop by Blog Action.

that's interesting. just last weekend I was talking with a woman who works in water purification. She said that unclean water is the #1 cause of death of children in the world. How awful!

What is sad about a water "shortage is that we are not short on water, just clean water. We've had relatively the same amount of water since the dawn of time (which is mind blowing because if you think about it, that means we are drinking dinosaur pee.) It's a money issue because all that needs to be done is purification in most 3rd world countries and things would be better.

What a great cause. Water is something that so many of us take for granted. Congrats on being interviewed!!!

this is brilliant.

and slightly ironic as i just spent tonight working on a social justice presentation about water in Uganda. my husband has just gotten back from visiting some villages over there and helping put in some wells. it's hard to remember just how much we take for granted, hey.

Hi, Jen! Thanks for following my blog. I am so flattered; I've looked at yours and it's amazing! I am really happy to connect with another writer. I'm new to blogging, and haven't really done a whole lot with mine yet. Yours is a huge inspiration. I love all of your novel ideas! I know what you mean about revisions... I have edited my book a million times. I refer to it as EditLand since it seems you get totally lost there. Anyways, great to meet you and I'll keep in touch!
