Spooky Tuesday

Since everyone loved last week's Twist Tuesday, first sentence style, I figured I would continue the trend, only this week it would be one big Spook-fest!!!

Three novels. Three sentences. Which would you read?

1. Violet Ambrose wandered away from the safety of her father as she listened to the harmony of sounds weaving delicately around her.
2. I could have died three months ago.
3. Detective Carl Hamilton shielded his eyes against the blaring blue lights and flashed his
badge at the police officer.

1. Title Revealed
2. Title Revealed
3. Title Revealed

This weeks was short and sweet! It seems after too much thought regarding posts they've come up short! Easier to read I suppose!

(Um, my browser is telling me that the 3rd link is broken--is it just me?)

I like the first one in particular. "Harmony of sounds"--lovely. :)

Oh my goshm number two!!!! The first sentence is way too long. Too much to wrap my head around for a first sentence. The short and sweet ones draw me in big time.

What a neat idea. I also picked #2, I think it's because I wanted to find out why did she almost die 3 months ago, what is going to happen now? I sadly also could not see the 3rd link. What fun though!

I picked #3. It's a broken link. What a tease(r)!

I did read number on (and enoyed it) and #2 is on my list! woo hoo

I picked #2 and now it is added to my very long list of TBR books! I've read #1 and it is fantastic! I love these posts Jen!

Yay! #3 is fixed. Added to my "to read" list. Which is almost as long as my rolling "to-do" list. *sigh*

Thanks for fixing it and letting me know!

I picked number one because I'm reading that right now! LOL! I knew what it was. Great book.

I picked number one, and I'm happy because I've got the book in my TBR pile. Woot. :)

Haha, I picked #1 without realizing I'd already read (and loved!) that book. I have to pay more attention to first sentences now :)

Probably number 2 for me!

PS I finally got my location blogfest post up. About 5 days late, but hey ...

LTM said...

Ew, I like them all. I might pick the first one as best, but it makes the editor in me twitch--just a few tweaks and it would be perfect...! LOL! :D I also like #2, but it feels predictable. (Did I just say that?) Fun stuff, Jen! Yay! :o)

This is such a great creative way to do the teaser!

Hm... I think I choose #1 this week. :-)

Colene Murphy said...

#2 got me first.
Then I cheated and found the only one that is actually on my TBR list right now (to be remedied as soon as I'm done typing so I can add #2 to it) so my opinion got tainted! But...one.

Nicole Zoltack said...

Definitely #2. What a great opening sentence.

These are great picks for Halloween, Jen. "Perilous" sounds really scary to me, eeek!

I found the J.K. Rowling interview on YouTube, whoop whoop! So amazing! Rowling is classy and brilliant. I love how she chooses her words carefully and thinks before she speaks. (I think that's a trademark of Europeans. We Americans tend to put our foot in our mouths, lol!) I love what she had to say about the significance of failure and the power of imagination! Though I'd love to read something new by her, I'm also hoping she writes something more from the Harry Potter world some day!

Jai Joshi said...

I picked the first, because I was intrigued by the character of Violet.

I like the idea of #2. The sentence leaves the reader with lots of possible questions to pursue in the book.

Melissa Hurst said...

Ooh, I like number one. Why would Violet be drawn away from safety? Spoooooky!

Krispy said...

I'd read #2. I've read #1, so I recognized the line and character. :)

Alex J. Cavanaugh said...

#3 caught my attention, but it's a young adult book. I think.

Southpaw said...

#1 for me. Now, I’ll go check what story it’s for.

Jennie Bailey said...

This was such a great idea! I went with #1...now I have to go pick up The Body Finder to see how the rest of it goes.

Lisa Gail Green said...

Ooh I had to peek at all of them! The first one really intrigued me though, and sure enough it's on my TBR list. I wish I could get through all that faster, so many good books to read.

Elana Johnson said...

I think I've read #1 and #3. I'm going to peek in a second and see. I love all of them.

Lacey Weatherford said...

What a great way to tease a book! It makes you judge by content not the cover! I love it! Thanks for coming by my site today! I'm following you too! :)
The Delusional Diaries
(I picked 2 btw)

I know what Number 3 is! I know what Number 3 is! So I'm gonna say: Number 3!

Not the first as I do not use children in danger to drive conflict. I do like the other two. Number two is the best as it offers endles possibilities.
