G is for Gold Digger
G is for Gold Digger... isn't that what everyone was thinking? I would have posted a picture but I'm afraid google had other plans and the the pics were a little much for me. So obviously my word isn't Gold Digger but now that I have your attention I should move on!
Actual word: Gifts
Our parents always told us we were special and no I'm not referrring to those dumb kids who would say "Yea special ed!" I'm referring to the fact that we were all born with gifts. Now I for one wish I was like Harry Potter and the gang and was given the gift of magic unfortunately that wasn't my calling.
I grew up thinking I wanted to be an architect (this dream started at 7) it wasn't until I was in High School that I realized I wasn't sure what I wanted to do I thought about being a nurse, emt, doctor, teacher, interior designer and architect once more. I tried a few of them out and always ended up in a dead end. It wasn't until a few years later that I realized what I was born to do...
What would be a job where I could be whatever I wanted whenever I wanted without anyone telling me no? Um yea a writer! I could dream and write about being a doctor make my character the best doctor around town or the best architect etc you get my point I could be whatever I wanted to be or whatever my characters wanted to be because I write the story! That's when I fell upon writing YA fantasy I get my own world my own rules my own me it's the best choice I could have ever made!! So after awhile I put everything together and realized that wanting everything wasn't out of reach not for an imagination like mine and for several other writers like myself. Writing is such a beautiful home away from home! My latest WIP is a world that I'd love to live in to help others to make our world just a nicer to place to live!
So what are your gifts? Do you incorporate your dreams or dream jobs into your writing?
I'm on a plan headed to Los Angeles!! Woohoo!!! Oh and Summer if I see Matthew (yes we're on a first name basis now) I'll be sure to take a picture with him so we can photoshop you in!!! Yay for Criminal Minds which totally rocked last night! A little gruesome I was disappointed with the amount of Dr. Reed time but hey maybe more next time!

Gah! I'm so jealous of you in LA. :) Have a great time. And wow, you are really rocking this A-Z challenge.
Excellent write and a real pleasure to read.
Have a nice day.
Yvonne.
I'm not sure I have any gifts - neither special nor ordinary ones. It's just plain old me, always busy, always with the head in the clouds... Writing is more a *need* than a gift for me. If I don't write, my imagination runs amok. And that's not good, not good at all... *g*
I'm worried I don't have any gifts.
I do that too :) My characters get to do all the cool stuff that I think I'd love but don't have the commitment to pursue!
Enjoy LA :D
Say hi to my brother in LA. I love these posts with the letters--so fun.
I'm an interior designer some of the time but writing is where my heart is (my gift). I, too, want to live in the worlds I create. I love making things happen that I can control.
Great post!
Have fun!
Now I'm going to have that song stuck in my head all day (Gold digger). Thanks ;-)
My characters get everything I wanted and everthing I could never have. It's fiction, after all. ;-)

My characters sometimes struggle to find the jobs and lives that will fulfill their passions. It's a journey of heart and soul, but they give it their all.
Nice post, as always! And I love what you said about being a writer, and what it means to you.
I've always been different, but never had any confidence—which I'm still trying to work on. I knew I loved music and art, but always wanted to be a writer as well. Being slightly dyslexic makes it hard because I have to reread everything a million times to make sure it sounds right. But it's getting better all the time and I love being a writer so much!
Have fun on the trip!
Now I want to Google image search the term gold digger but I'm at work so ... no.
I love Criminal Minds!! Execept last night I watched The Blind Side Instead. Anyway, I do the same thing with my characters because right now my characteer is living out my dream
I'm still so jealous of you!!
have that song "Gold digger" stuck in my head now! So funny! I am having flash backs from the past season of Glee!
Yes, I think that is a gift -- being able to create people and worlds and situations that take other people to somewhere they've never gone before.
I'm not sure if I have gifts (though a few paranormal ones would be nice). I just work really hard at improving what I have and what I enjoy doing. That's why I've taken courses on photography and writing. Or maybe that's to awaken my gift. ;)
Oh, I thought of a gift I have. I'm creative. :D Whew, now I feel better.
I have the gift of GAB. Or so I've been told.
Seriously, though, I've always only considered writing to be my talent/gift. I had great promise as a pianist, but I didn't have the passion for it like I do for writing, so that choice was easy enough...
Yeah, leave plenty of room on the side for me to get in on that pic!
Gifts, I would have to ponder on that one awhile. No nothing!!! Oh well like you say, we can be whatever we like in our writing. Isn't that amazing.
Loving your take on the A-Z challenge.
Writing is a lovely gift to have! I'm not totally sure what gifts I have but I like to make people smile, so treasure that as my gift. :)
Have a safe trip to LA!
I love writing and have been doing it since I was a kid. It's the perfect job for me!
That is awesome that you found what you want to do and enjoy it!
I don't have a gift. For real.
I make really good grades in school (straight A's), and I love reading and writing. I always make really good grades in writing, but I don't want to be a writer!
I want to be a lawyer.
But that doesn't mean I have a gift.... :/
xx,
~Abby~
Awesome post! That's why I love writing--you're only limited by your imagination. And that's of course my gift; I've got a fantastic imagination :D
I came to writing because I really thought I had no other "gifts" ... no grace, no music, no rhythm, no handy hands. But in writing, you can be anything you want to be ... so yeah, I can see how my biggest gift (to myself, anyway) is the freedom I get from writing.
And yay! Another Criminal Minds fan! Don't spoil it for me, as I have it DVR'd!
It's true that the best thing about writing is I get to be whatever my characters are. Princesses, warriors, politicians, priests, goddesses, artists, innocent children, vixens, marketing executives. Whatever I feel like.
At the same time I don't write my characters into being what I want to be. I let the characters tell me what they are and then I see how it goes.

YOU certainly have a gift, my dear. You're a fantastic writer. Me... I think I'm less of a gifted writer and more of a hard working one. Maybe my gift is perseverance. I learn from my mistakes and improve my craft again and again. :)
Have fun in LA! Was the Criminal Minds the one with Gavin Rossdale? (that's the only one I've seen...but it was great to see Gavin shirtless. I mean acting.)
I would say being an advocate for children may be one of my gifts. All of my vocations revolve around kids. I used to teach (loved it), became a stay at home mom (love it), substitute teach to stay connected to the schools, and write for kids.
I'm so jealous of you winging your way to LA! Have a great time.
Gifts... I think I have a gift to self-motivate, which I'm really discovering is invaluable when it comes to writing. Oh yes, and drive and persistance.
But I do think, als, I sorta have a way with words! So writing is perfect for me, even if it'll never make me wealthy!
I love that aspect of writing too (being able to create a character or a setting that you'd love and make them or it better than real life). It's fun.
Congratulations on finishing your first draft! That is huge!
I often incorporate dream jobs or wishful thinking locales in my books. I love that google takes me there sans the price tag to fly over in person. Great Post.
Holy Cow! I love that bottom picture - fabulous! Have a great trip. I'll have an award for you at my blog tomorrow. :-)
Great going on the A-Z challenge! I'm still digging up the gold, finding my gifts. And like a gold panner who finally has a few nuggets in pan, I first can't believe they are there, then it is a celebration.
Have a wonderful trip! And I totally agree - writers get to be whatever they want whenever they want. What more could you ask?
Great post and I hope you have a great trip. :o)
I love this post... & i know that you pretty much already know but my story was i wanted to be a teacher pretty much all my life and i kind moved around from ages i wanted to teach & then was even in school... & i must say thanks to dad basically droppped out and few years later (or couple months ago) Thanks to mom i have found my passion in photography!! YAY! lol Have fun in LA... i have mentioned you in my blog as i am definitely jealous! lol
Wow. You are doing such a good job at your A-Z thingy. You definitely got my attention with gold digger.
Have a lovely trip!
LOVE!
Love all the great pictures. It is so awesome to be able to create worlds and try to be anything that we want to be. I didn't want to be a writer - never thought I had any talent, but I'm so grateful I gave it a try. Have fun on your trip.
Good post....and you totally got my attention with the gold digger.
Love this post. I think my gift is I enjoy listening. And I can zone out in my head, lose myself at the keyboard. Enjoy your trip!!
