Not your average Wonderland

Can I write about nothing today? Will you let me? That's what my original post was going to be about. Last night I racked my brain for something to write... anything... about a cat, a dog, a bird... ANYTHING. I think you get my drift, and I am pretty sure you have realized by now that my evening wasn't so successful on the revision or writing front, my muse is torturing me, so instead of torturing myself I am trying to embrace the freedom. So far not going so grand, but with the help of all of you I'm hoping to get out of it!!

Okay since I know none of you will let me get away with writing nothing I suppose I better put on my creative thinking cap and get started... here goes nothing!

Actual Word/Phrase: N is for Not your average Wonderland

Today I've decided to forget reality, at least for the time being, I'll come back to it, it's not like it's going anywhere, you still have to pay bills, work, take care of the children, like I said for the moment lets step away from all of that and focus what's not in this world. What do I mean you ask? I'll explain...

The Wizarding World

Join me in an adventure at Hogwarts, you can choose what House your in, I won't judge! Just make sure we remain friends! Lets learn to fly, make wonderful potions, and transfigure with Professor McGonagall! Let's just get away for awhile into a world unlike any other!!

Narnia

Maybe you'd enjoy a trip to Narnia instead, you know how to get there!!! Find the nearest closet/cupboard and climb on through! Look for the lamp post and the rest will come!!

Utopia

Another one of my personal favorites... Utopia, will you come and join me here as well before our journey ends? I would hate for everyone to miss such a beautiful and mystical place.

Wonderland

You can choose what version you'd like to travel too, this round I've selected Through the looking glass, I really enjoyed this movie and throughout it I wished I could have traveled right along side Alice so now you can!

Traveler's House

This one is mine, I know I've showed this picture before but I've since fallen in love with it. It relates to the story I'm working on. This is the Traveler's House, inside this house is beautiful and endless possiblities. The world is always seen right inside the house, even though dark things linger outside the walls.

So which one would you like to visit? I plan on visiting all of them and you're welcome to join!! Do you have another place to add? Are you working on another world?

Yay for finding something so good to post about! I'd love to go to Narnia. And right now I'd like to go somewhere warm and sunny, maybe with a beach or two... and some tequila!

Yey, nothing turned out to be something. I'd go with you to any of the three but if I really had my druthers, it would be Utopia, right now, this a.m., don't know about a half hour from now...and such is the fun of whimsical travel.

I need to visit all of them. I haven't read/watched any of them. I'm way behind on the times. I will totally be seeing Alice in Wonderland though...as soon as it moves to the five-buck club. lol So, let's start there...it always looked like fun with lots of crazy characters!

Hogworts, Narnia, but my daughter would be down that rabbit hole in a second. She can't stop talking about how great it would be if it was real and she could go. She has such a great imagination, as kids do. I love that she is so ready to pack up and leave. Reminds me of how I used to fall for books just like that!

I'd visit them all, but I have a special affinity for Narnia. I loved those books as a kid, especially The Horse and His Boy, which is set in a middle-eastern reminiscent part of the Narnia world. Fun post today!

I'll go visit them all too...

Forget working on my edits today. I'm going on a trip. Now where to start first . . . .

Have a great weekend, Jen.

Love this theme and so well developed with delightful options. Mine would be Shangri-La tucked away in a remote valley in the middle of the Himilayas. James Hilton's Lost Horizon succeeded in creating quite a utopian dream.

It's a toss up between Hogwart's and Narnia. I love magic. Maybe I'll do both, but I'm a little scared of the meanies.

Have fun, cause you're right - reality ain't going anywhere. Surely it will be waiting with open arms when you return ;)

I'd like to be in Ravenclaw. Mostly, because we don't know as much about that house. I think the word geek/musicians go there.

When I was little, I tried to walk through my closet into Narnia. I bumped my head, of course, but stayed there and made up my own adventure.

Wonderland scares me, but I'd love to visit Willie Wonka's Wonkaland and ride the wonkavator.

Thanks for the fantasy trip!

We must have been on the same wavelength last night! I was about to go stir-crazy nuts by the time E got home. Couldn't read, couldn't write, couldn't even stand to LOOK at the computer!

:-) Anyway, I'd choose Hogwart's, as long as I got to be a wizard!

I'd go to any one of those places right now - but if I had to pick, it would be Utopia.

Great pics! Now I'm in dreaming mode.

Not sure where I want to go now...probably because my desk is screaming to be straightened up. But I'll think on it...
Have a good weekend,
Karen

Those are all awesome, but I would have to choose Hogwarts. I've always thought I would be in Gryffindor, or maybe Ravenclaw. And Middle Earth would be awesome too. And the traveler's house :)

Ok, let's go, I could use a vacation!

I occasionally tell my friends we have to go and search for Narnia. We take a picnic and go to Hampstead Heath in London, where C.S Lewis was inspired to write Narnia, and I spend most of the time pointing at the old-fashioned lamp-posts saying 'this is it! Oh... no, there is one over there. That is it! Oh, hang on...'

Unknown said...

Jayne that is so neat!!! I'd love to live close enough to visit a place so special! Haha sounds like a very productive spot!

Okay, maybe I'll be the first to say this - Avatar-world? (Pandora, right?)

I guess it's not a written world, but to me that was the absolute best part of the movie. All that beautiful glowing nature-stuff. (Before they started machine-gunning it, of course. Can we pretend that didn't happen?)

But I think you really covered most of the major (written) bases (except Middle Earth) on this one.

Jen, I was just thinking yesterday I would like to take a short vacation from my life, so I am totally with you on this. While I would love to visit Hogwarts I think for my current mood Utopia would be the first stop. I need a place to decompress and maybe take a nap ;^)and who can nap knowing Voldemort is out there somewhere.

I'll visiti Hogwarts and Narnia! How i wish for it to come true!!

What a beautiful post! I love the pictures. I'd visit all of those places in a heartbeat, anything to get away from this dull place. ;)

Love this post, though it wasn't about nothing. The mood-enhancing pictures were quite substantial. Thank you for the brief trip away from stress and reality. Have the best weekend.

Angie - I'm glad I could oblige!!

TheLittleFlower - ME TOO!!! I need to take a nap and go to dreamworld pronto!!

Shelley - Thank you! You're too sweet!! Yes this place is indeed quite dull today!

Roxy - You're right, what I thought was nothing turned into something! You're welcome I think I need to take another visit!!

I'm all about permitting the nothing post. Blogging so often is a lot to keep up with!

You found an interesting way around the problem, though. I love your not average wonderlands!

It's funny, but those fantasy worlds don't really sound pleasant to me - too much crazy going on. I think I'd rather visit The Blue Castle by L. M. Montgomery or the shire in Lord of The Rings - there that's a good fantasy place. Or I'd like to go to Green Gables and visit with Anne. Places like that are much more appealing to me. The other worlds I just like to read about.

I like the Traveler's House- so pretty! And who could resist Hogwarts? I'd totally want to be a student there with all of you and Harry Potter and RPatz when he was . . . what was his character's name? I don't know, but he'd better be there.

I love the pics!

Unknown said...

Kirsten - Thank you I'll bear that in mind next time I come up blank!

Mary - At least you know what works for you, and I love your ideas of bliss and fun places to get away as well!!! I think I could be happier in those places, lol!

Amy - Awe thanks... RPatz took a minute but he was Cedric Diggory in the film... I forget they have a nickname for him now, lol!

I think I'd like to go on that trip when you visit each of them. Can I pack myself in your suitcase?

I am working on another world, but I don't think it's a place anyone would want to visit.

I would love to visit Narnia. The whole concept of through the wardrobe just tickles my imagination!

I'll join you in all your adventures. You are such an amazing person.
Oh, you know you can't get away with not writing for a day right?. There would be no "Jen's new post" ringing in my head. :)
I love your blog.

LOVE!

I'm up for visiting Narnia and Hogwart's but only as long as I never have to talk to any Slytherins. I hate those guys.
