That is NOT the question. I really just wanted to see if you were paying attention to me. Which you are. Because you think I’m awesome. I know, I know. I’m sweet about it. I don’t let it go to my head.
Today is Fun Facts Friday.
No this is not going to be a regular segment. This is just me at a loss of ideas so we’re going to play it safe and learn some fun facts about writers… that’s right… I’m talking about you. But first we’ll dive in to some of our favorites – my favorites.
ME (I’m my own favorite)
I thought my husband (boyfriend at the time) had watched his friend get murdered and the gold necklace he wore around his neck was the only thing left behind when he passed. This went on for two years until I asked him about it. Turns out it was a dream I’d had and never thought otherwise. I never suspected my husband of being guilty I only felt bad that he didn’t trust me enough to talk about. – I should have known I’d be a writer.
When asked my favorite color I respond with Orange. The reason behind it is because I can never decide on red or yellow and when mixed together they create a great combination.
Emily Giffin
Never been on a roller coaster.
Calls her violin a fiddle.
Note - Okay so this was supposed to be much more exciting but after my frustrating stint with Google I ended up with myself (which wasn’t Googled) and Emily Giffin.
So now it’s your turn. Share fun facts about yourself and if you’re feeling daring about another author!!

Does that mean I get a cupcake.
Each week I share meaningless facts about myself. I assume you care because regardless whether you comment or lurk I know you’re there (no I’m not psychic it’s called stats people – if I knew how to read them).
So here I am spilling my guts again and what’s my reward? Nothing. Unless you count your truths – which I like. I want something more (yes this is me being greedy).
So I’ve decided that for every truth you share you are being sent a virtual cupcake. I’ll be rewarding myself with a real cupcake (I don’t want to have to worry about shipping – sorry). This means I’ll have to spend an extra half hour during the week swimming laps – we’ll see if it’s worth it.
So enough wasting time, let’s earn us some cupcakes.
1. I love Oakleys. My husband did it. Sunglasses are a new addiction of mine. The funkier the better. I like to live life on the edge – show people I’m cool. Sunglasses does it – trust me, I’m the expert.
2. Answering phones results in puking. That’s right I have a phobia of talking on the phone – in front of co-workers = even more embarrassing issues. It’s that big of a phobia (unless it’s an agent, then I’ll be puking for an entirely different reason).
3. I love reading queries. I’ll Google queries and see if I can’t pull something creative out of my hat to incorporate in my own. It’s just neat to see all the different story ideas out there. If I did it for a living I’d probably not find it so fun (after all I’m only reading the ones that sold).
4. I love So You Think You Can Dance. I know I can’t dance (no thinking about it) but that doesn’t mean I don’t attempt while watching the show (by waving my hands in the air – any jumps and I’ll be in the hospital).
5. I love meeting new people. Not everyone is super friendly but I do my best to say hello (even though they think I’m the weird one. Which I probably am. At least I’m not rude).
So now it’s turn to earn your cupcakes… give it your best shot.

Just Friends With Benefits
Thanks to Goodreads I came across some great new authors! Meredith Schorr being one of them. Since she happens to be a chick lit author and it just so happens to be the month of February, I thought it perfect timing to show her off!!!

Her debut novel is Just Friends With Benefits! An ebook!
When a friend urges Stephanie Cohen not to put all her eggs in one bastard, the advice falls on deaf ears. Stephanie's college crush on Craig Hille has been awakened 13 years later as if soaked in a can of Red Bull and she is determined not to let the guy who got away once, get away twice. Stephanie, a 32-year-old paralegal from Washington, D.C., is a 70's and 80's television trivia buff who can recite the starting lineup of the New York Yankees and go beer for beer with the guys. And despite her failure to get married and pro-create prior to entering her thirties, she has so far managed to keep her overbearing mother from sticking her head in the oven. Just Friends with Benefits is the humorous story of Stephanie's pursuit of love, her adventures in friendship, and her journey to discover what really matters.
1. What made you start writing?
As a daydreamer with an overactive imagination I figured if was going to drum up stories, I might as well put them in writing! I realized my passion for writing when I began getting way too much pleasure from writing work-related emails to clients and I started writing children's stories. That didn't stick and so I began writing a personal/dating blog. I loved it, but became paranoid about putting my business out there and decided to switch to fiction.
2. Why chick lit?
"Just Friends With Benefits" started out more of a romance but my voice and writing style naturally lends itself to chick-lit. I couldn't help myself :) Chick-lit is my favorite escape when it comes to reading so it's no surprise it's also my favorite escape when it comes to writing.
3. Any new stories you have in the works?
Yes, I'm over 200 pages into the first draft of my second novel. Also chick-lit. It's about a late twenty-something woman who, after ending a 9 year relationship with her high school sweetheart, dives back into the dating pool and realizes it's not as easy as she thought it would be. The premise is what happens when the Type-A 'planner' realizes she cannot plan the actions/reactions of other people, specifically, men.
4. Are you looking for love with an agent this round or sticking with the epublishing?
I will definitely try to obtain an agent with my second novel, but wouldn't hesitate to continue with e-publishing. It's the wave of the future!
Fun & Random Questions:
Favorite book: I loved "Something Borrowed" by Emily Giffin. But "The Lovely Bones" by Alice Sebold really touched my heart.
Favorite Pizza Joint: Nanuet Restaurant in Nanuet, New York. AWESOME.
Writing spot: Starbucks
Faster at writing or editing: editing
Ocean or Snow: ocean!
Way to get rid of writers block: Just get in front of the computer and start typing. The toughest challenge for me is making the time to write; once I'm there, the words begin to flow.
