I'm Jen and I'm an addict

So this Monday morning is somewhat of a truth day. I am an addict when it comes to writing. I know this happens to many writers, until of course writer's block hits.

However this is not a negative post it is a positive one so let's not get of track.

I love being an addict. When that idea pops into your head and flows on the pages you can't help but fall in love with writing. Each word that's written is better than the last and the character has molded into something even more magical than you expected.

It's magical. I think every writer is an artist. Turning a blank page into something amazing is a gift and for those who are currently in the stages of writing, revising, querying, or where you are I want you to remember that you are great.

You are good enough to be published. You are good enough to be agented. You are good enough to write another.

So get addicted to writing and stay addicted to writing, because once you start, you'll never be able to stop.

Lovely and positive post Jen. It actually made me giggle, not because it's inherently funny, but because I thought of Stuart Smalley's "You're good enough, you're smart enough and dogginit. . . people like you" skit from SNL:) That just totally aged me, didn't it?

Oh god, I'll have what you're having. I need to finish revising my novel and I just can't find the enthusiasm. I love it, but I've spent so long revising it, that...I...I...I'm bored.

I have this great idea for a YA. I want to write it, but I gotta finish these revisions first.

Hit me up soon, 'cause I need to get high on your drugs.

My blog is my daily fix, and my novels are my binges. No hangovers, thank God.

Well described. Similar to other addictions, it also sneaks up on the person--the need to be creative at while stuck in traffic, at child's sporting event, or at 3 am.

And when you get an idea, you write like a maniac! Besting NaNo in just five days still blows my mind.

I'm so addicted to writing, I suffer major withdrawals if I don't get my regular fixes. Fortunately my hubby recognizes the signs. ;)

Aw, thank you so much for the encouragement! I needed that today. I'm getting addicted to revisions, and I'm pretty happy about that. :)

Jen - I love your spirit and encouraging words to writers. We can always count on you to keep us in the sphere of positive. :)

I had a shiny new idea first thing this morning, just when I opened my eyes. I haven't had that feeling in awhile, and I raced to jot down the idea and even started writing it - at 630 this morning! Then I wrote some more at work and got even more excited. So true about being addicted to writing... I can't wait to see where this story takes me!

I'm addicted, but I wish I was more violently so. Perhaps a cocaine additive would do the trick...

Hi Jen! I'm addicted to my writing, too! I only wish it would flow magically out of my finertips onto my laptop much more often! This post is a little like the one I posted on Friday...about the "being good enough" part. Stop by if you have a moment.
