Truth Thursdays!

Gosh Thursday already?? One of the best days of the week if you ask me, we are almost to Friday and the week is already half way over! Also it's my fabulous truth thursdays where I share a few things and hope that you'll share your truths as well!!!

Last week was all about food so this week I am going to try really hard to not make any of my truths food related, we all know how tough this can be!

Here we go!!!

1. My favorite month is October, it is the month of my husbands birthday, our engagement, our wedding anniversary, the Rennaissance Festival here in Houston, awesome Haunted Houses and Halloween. The hubs was married on Halloween so it is a big thing in our house!

2. I love baking (no food listed so I'm not cheating!!!) I have tons of recipe cards filled with my favorites and the hubs favorites from his mom.

3. I love to fly but always get motion sickness. It's ridiculous too, I'll be so excited then when on the plane I feel awful but the minute I walk off I feel 100% and ready to get back on the plane!

4. Pier 1 Imports is like heaven for me, though if you looked at my house you'd never guess, you would say Ikea is. That's what is most affordable but if I had my wish I would buy everything from Pier 1!!

5. I have different colored marbles/gems for every holiday, it is a center piece on my island. I have little bats and ghosts for Halloween, hearts for Valentines Day, leaves for fall, you name it I have it (thanks to Pier 1... they aren't as expensive as everything else!!)

So what are your truths?? Do you have a knack for interior design, love to bake, hate traffic? Share it all here! I love to know your thoughts for the day!

Extras: I will have a surprise interview, hopefully next week on my blog!!! So stay tuned! Also if you live in Houston or the surrounding area Kimberly Derting author of The Body Finder will be at the Barnes & Noble at the Woodlands this Friday at 7PM for more information check out the Supernatural Summer website!

ooh I am reading The Body Finder right now!!!
I have the same problem with flying, and the big month at our house like that is April (so much goes on that month);-)

Let's see.

1. I hate to fly.
2. I love to cook/bake, but hate the cleanup.
3. I LOVE Pier 1 too, but own nothing from the store.

My birthday is also in October. 10-10-10 has GOTTA be a party, right?

I love Pier1 too. Also IKEA, but we have to drive 4 hours to get to one (ugh). I tell hubs at gift-giving time to just go to Pier1 and pick something. Doesn't get any easier than that!

My truths:

I hate flying, but I'm not scared. I just literally hate the sensation of NOT having the ground beneath me.

I would rather write than eat, drink, or even breath.

I love to bake banana bread and breakfast bread. I can stick eggs to ANY pan in existence, but my baking skills are startling.

I've got a full out to an agent and it's killing me slowly... but consistantly...

Christina - I hope you enjoy it because I loved it!

Justine - WHAT?! That's insanity... you own nothing from the store? I buy their fun holiday marbles because it's the only thing that is affordable, lol

Vicki - Isn't it awful how you have to drive 4 hours to an IKEA! Moving to Houston I have the benefits of having one 20 minutes away!

A. Grey - That's great!!! If you need to vent the blogging world is there for you! I am wishing you the best of luck on your full!

I'm developing a startling bird figuring fetish.

Also, this kitten is darling and adorable, but her constant meowing is annoying. :-) And yes, you can have her! I'll air-mail her. :-)

I love september and october. Probably because I've got a really 'nostalgic' memory and when season start changing from summer to fall and winter to spring, I find myself back in time- first days of school. I had my first romance in autumn too so maybe that has something to do with it...:)

When I was a wee tyke, my mom took me to the dentist. They came and got me, sat me in the chair, put the protective cloth around my neck, then left me there for the dentist. I waited a couple of minutes, took off the cloth, walked back out to the waiting room and told my mom we were done.

They caught me just as we were getting in the car to leave.

Hmmm. Great truths Jen. Lets see for me now.

I love to bake too. I mad my goddaughter a spongebob cake for her 1st birthday and she got upset when I cut it.

I like to pick the chocolate off Malteasers and then eat the honeycomb(Malteasers are a bit like Hershey's Whoopers in the U.S.

Oh, I can't believe I shared the weirdness of that last one. lol.

Unknown said...

Summer - Meowing isn't my thing. I have one cat who does that already and it drives me bonkers. Plus I don't think my two cats would enjoy the company.

CQG - I'm with you, I found my true love in October so I'm sure it was meant to be my favorite month!

DL - That story cracked me up!!! Smooth DL... real smooth, it would have been awesome had you actually gotten away with it!

Lindsay - Loving the honesty! Thanks for sharing that was awesome! I'm with you on the honeycomb part... it's yummy!

That's really neat that you still love to fly even though you get motion sickness. I get motion sickness and that's why I hate to fly. My husband just got his pilot's license, so I'm going to have to suck it up and try again!

Truths, huh?

1. I hate summer and love the winter, although now that I live in Fort Worth, there isn't much to love about winter either.

2. I am a Colorado girl inside and out! I love the outdoors, the mountains, hiking, and the Denver Broncos.

3. I am a terrible housewife, and although I want to be a published author someday, there is a lot holding me back--all personal, all petty. BOO!

Love your blog!

Jaydee Morgan said...

Hmmm, I used to love to fly but I've seen too many episodes of MayDay now - not sure I want to fly anymore.

I hate cooking and baking - really anything that involves working in a kitchen.

If it can snow, that month is out as one of my favorites. I'm a summer, sunshine kind of girl.

Unknown said...

Aubrie - What can I say... I'm interesting... lol

Candyland - Wow... Honest... Disturbing... and absolutely frickin' hilarious!

Sarah Ann said...

I'm pretty sure we've talked about this, but I love October, too :)

I love October. Absolutely love it. After December, it's my fave.

I'm so sad I won't be back in Houston when the Supernatural Summer tour comes through! You'll have to tell us all about it :)

Truth: The best meals are the ones someone else cooks! I'm not much of a cook :/ Happy Thursday :)

Great fun little facts, thanks Jen!

Nice to know not everything at Pier One costs an arm and a leg too.

Jessica Bell said...

Love to fly high,
high in the sky.
Hate to bake,
my baking is dry.
But I love to eat,
baked goods of course!
So those are my thoughts,
my thoughts, for the day.
Hooray, hooray for Thursday! :)

I love October too. I love the smells and how the weather gets cooler. Plus all the leaves turn into magical colors. It's awesome. =)

Here's a truth about myself I'm having to face up to: Although I love a clean house, and NEED a clean house, I HATE to clean!!!

i love that october is such a big month for you guys!! it's like a non-stop celebration every day!!

Great post Jen...I love learning more about you.

My truths:

1. I cannot walk by a Hallmark store without going inside and buying cards. As a result, I have a STACK of cards to send for any occasion.

2. I love to plan things
Vacations, menus, events with friends, work out schedules you name it.

3. I don't like salt
Can't stand the taste of it on food. I will cook with it, but I never salt my food and refuse to eat things that are too salty.

4. I prefer vanilla over chocolate.
:p

Stina said...

I love The Body Finder. Too bad I'm nowhere near The Woodlands (my parents used to live there, though). Heck, I'm not even in the same country.

My hubby loves to bake . . . especially chocolate cake. :D

Crystal Cook said...

I love your truth Thursdays they're so fun :)

I love to bake too!! And October is my second favorite month (December is my first).

Honestly I really love Ikea, I like their clean modern lines.

My truth is. . . I can't stand it when people bite on their popsicle sticks. It gives me the shivers, I can't even watch! Weird huh?

Ha sounds like flying is a love-hate relationship for you =p lol. Oh and i'm sorry I don't think I'll be participating in the video battle this week :( Once I am halfway with my first novel I will play again as a reward! I FREAKING LOVE making those funny vids haha, and the entries are always hilarious!

Oh if you haven't voted on Creepy Query Girl's QUERY SPOOF contest, you should vote for entry #1 ;) haha.

T.J. Carson said...

oh, p.s. love the new background! It's summery, I LOVE IT!

I so get what your saying about Pier 1! I love that store too. I love flying because I'm on top of the world, and completely unavailable to all the demands happening under me.

Jackee said...

Cute! I love your number 5. If I didn't have a baby who puts everything in her mouth I'd totally copy you.

And as for flying, I learned really fast to not get sick while in grad school studying bighorn sheep. We did all kinds of acrobatics in little planes looking for radio-collared sheep. Good times!

Jackee said...

Oh, and I'm bummed you didn't win too. I was really rooting for you, working as hard as you were to catch up! Dang random numbers! :o)

Oh, I do love Thursdays as well. It's such a lovely day of the week. So much hope and expectation to look forward to in the weekend.

I dislike flying, but I love being at the airport, preparing to fly or getting off the plane. Every time I've flew, it was back to my hometown, so it was always something I looked forward to. :)

I guess May is my favorite month. Flowers are starting to bloom and it's getting warmer and staying light longer.

I used to scrapbook, and I was quite good at it. It fell to the side when I started writing, but I have an awesome scrapbooking space in my basement.

I love flying. It means you are going somwhere...going is my favorite. :)

Macy's is my store. When we moved away from St. Louis it was really hard to adjust to no Macy's. The closest one is 4 hours away...So I only shop (really shop) a couple times a year.

I love to decorate for Christmas. I put up three full size trees in our house and have at least one tree of some sort/size in each room of our house (except guest bedrooms).

Andrea Allison said...

I'm like Karen. I love and need a clean house. I just don't want to be the one who cleans it.

Talli Roland said...

Oh, exciting - can't wait to see who your interview is!

And I am so with you on Pier 1. I love their stuff.

A truth about me? Hmmmmm... I love when my husband speaks Arabic 'cause he seems like a whole other man! It's like two men in one! :)

PJ Hoover said...

I'm not big on cooking and could eat popcorn every day!

DJ Kirkby said...

I like to bake too. I think your number 5 is such a good idea!

Shannon O'Donnell said...

I love Pier 1, too. My taste is always better than my budget.

I am a FREAK about baseball, so I'm in sports heaven these days!

I wish it was next Wednesday right now so the kids and I can start summer vacation.

Amy Saia said...

I love to bake, and I would like to fly if the whole idea didn't scare me so much.

I love to be near plants and all things earthy.

Dawna said...

Thanks for peeking at my blog today. :) Thought I would swing by and check yours out too... great idea to have a truthful Thursday.

Let's see:
1. I love food! I enjoy cooking and baking and enjoy feeding others.

2. I detest having my feet restricted. I dislike socks and prefer to go barefoot most of the time.

3. Fall is my favorite season. NOt too hot, not too cold, and the sights and scents are unparalleled.

4. Every room in my house is a different color. I like bold, bright colors that say "look at me...". For me, white walls just don't cut it.

Anonymous said...

Oh sweetie. October must really be filled with joy for you. :)
I love baking too. I'm not very good, but I fill everything with more than enough sugar!

I love flying. My home is 19 hours away, so I'm used to sitting on the plain for hours. Road trips steal my heart though! They are way more fun!

I like colors. I wish my landlord would allow me to paint me room!

Have an amazing Friday!

LOVE!

I've only flown four times in my whole life, but I loved it. I even took pictures of the clouds when we were above them.

Hi Jen,

Ooh this is like 'truth or dare?' - did you ever play that growing up? Let's see.

I have a packing list for every conceivable trip, w/end to one week/2 weeks and seasonal too. LOL. ( its an excel sheet) I'm so retentive about packing!! ;)

Have a lovely Thursday! xx

My truth that I just realized:
I have participated in Renaissance Faire's ever since high school drama club. I specialized in that era of history in college, love to design and sew the costumes, and write Elizabethan era historical romance.
That said, I have not enjoyed faire's very much lately. Why? Because I don't look as great in a court dress as I used to when I was younger/pre-baby. What does this tell me? Perhpas it was always all about vanity. This is sort of sad. Of course, I am still planning my next court gown in my head.
So there's my truth. I just realized it today and, voila, here was a place to share.

Ann said...

The only time I don't love to fly is when the drinks trolley does not come around offering me little bottles of wine!!! LOL

What an interesting post.

The Body Finder and Kimberly Derting are made of AWESOMENESS!! She is here in Dallas today, but I can't go see her. :(

And I love October too!! It's a feeling I get when that month rolls around. It's crozy and autumny and I love it!! :)

Jemi Fraser said...

I love to bake - it's one of the ways I relax :)

I also love October - the leaves in our area are spectacular - nothing quite like it :)

Karen Lange said...

Love the month of October too! It's our anniversary month, with many family bdays sprinkled in there. Plus love the weather then here in north central KY. Like to bake (just dislike the calories) Love Pier One! Just wish I was independently wealthy so I could spend more $$ there:)
Happy weekend!

Eva said...

I can't bake to save my life so I commend you for that. Everything I'm good at tends to be art related, painting, writing and things like that. If you put me on a deserted island I would die, I'm not a very practical person.

JeMA said...

Truth: I clean the refrigerator once a season, and I had to look up how to spell it!

India Drummond said...

I loved shopping at Pier 1 when I lived in the States, but you're right.. they can be pricey!

Sara Louise said...

Flying is not a problem for me but riding in a car is! If I don't sit in the front, I'll be sick for hours
