Today I have a very special guest! Jen Violi wrote Putting Makeup on Dead People. It's an amazing read you're sure to love, and today I have THREE copies up for grabs!!! Read the interview for the fun, and at the end how you can get your hand on a copy!
1. If you put makeup on dead people what would you start with? Would you mix lipstick colors to give that person the perfect edge?
If I put makeup on dead people, which honestly, you wouldn’t catch me doing, um, ever, I think I’d spend a lot of time with skin tone/foundation first. If I could, I’d want to capture that glow the person had in life.
2. What color of couch would you have if it was in your favorite spot in the woods? Why?
I feel like my answer to this might determine whether or not I’m eaten by a mountain lion, so I’m nervous. Is brown and green the right answer? So I’m camoflauged, both in the woods and in a ‘70s sitcom?? If nothing was going to eat me and I didn’t have to disco, I think I’d pick a dark burgundy, because that’s the color couch I want right now, regardless of locale.
3. You’re at an airport shop, before boarding a plane what are the three things you purchase?
Whatever magazine has the best cover story that is not about either disastrous celebrity marriages or how to prevent aging, Andes Mints (I could eat the whole box), and teriyaki jerky (must have salty to balance out sweet).
4. Who would you rather dress up as the Easter Bunny or Santa Clause? Why?
Can I pick the Tooth Fairy? I seriously just hate wearing pants, and I fear that both the Bunny and the Claus would involve hot (and I don’t mean attractive) trouser-like components. I would much prefer wings and a wand. And glitter. Oooh, or the goddess Artemis. I happen to be quite skilled at making bows and arrows out of cardboard and aluminum foil, and that’s a talent I never get to use enough.
5. When was the last time you played in the snow?
Wow. It’s been a while. I’m pretty sure it was Christmas three years ago, when I built a pretty rocking snowman. Six feet tall, black olive eyes, a plaid scarf. He didn’t come to life or anything, but he was a classy winter stud.
Fun & Random Questions (one word answers):
Animal print socks or fruit print socks: Mythical animal print (currently craving sasquatch socks)
Bowl of ice cream or ice cream cone: Cone for sure. That way you eat the bowl.
Vampire or Werewolf: Wolf it up, Kris. I like ‘em warm-blooded.
Rubberband ball or bouncy ball: Bouncy and turquoise, please.
Purse or handbag: Purse. I require hands-free satchels.
Isn't she super cool? Not only does she share my name, but she's awesome like me too (yes, I think I'm awesome).
You must be in US & Canada

I can't enter the competition, but I just wanted to say that is an awesome title!
I agree - great title. Also, I live in the land of snow but I don't think I've ever made such a classy looking snowman ;)

Sasquatch socks? What is this?? I must admit that I am doubly curious ... As to teriyaki jerky - there is such a thing? Yummy ...
Thanks for the interview! Your book sounds pretty kick ass and it's a brilliant cover!
Thanks for the contest too! So glad it's open to Canada so I can enter!
That is a great title for a book and a great interview! I too require a hands free satchel, my whole life is in my purse, including a great (sometimes new) book!
This sounds like a totally fun read, Jen.... How are you? Doing WriteOnCon? Just three more months to WW...
What an awesome interview. Andes mints and teriyaki jerky are my faves too.
Great book title!
Hi Jen! And thanks for the giveaway, Other Jen!
I LOVE ANDES mints, too. I couldn't eat a whole box, but pretty darn close!!! Love this. Thanks for the smile!

These are the most random questions ever, but they sure make for a fun interview! I don't think I would ever put makeup on a dead person, but foundation does seem like a good idea. :)
Interesting title, the sort that would make me pick the book up and begin to read :)
Great interview, too!
Lol @ classy winter stud. :)
I'm really looking forward to reading this one. The title alone got me interested, but the great reviews have sold me.
Nothing like a dead serious interview to brighten a boring Wednesday ;o)
Love that title!

Great interview! So much better having an interview that both makes you laugh, and gives you insight on the author.
Oh, and I would so be the Tooth Fairy also! I mean really, all that glitter and sparkle!!!
Is it weird that I buy the exact same things at the airport?
I love the title! I definitely want to read it!
So, I was scrolling through Google Reader this morning and came to a screeching halt when I saw this title. Then I started giggling when I saw the questions and answers. Fun, fun, fun!
Got to like a woman who hates wearing pants!
That book looks SO good! What an awesome premise! :D
Hi! This interview is hilarious! I especially love that she wants to be the toothfairy! The toothfairy would be so much cuter than the others, but I'm the girl who can't stand dresses. I think I'm cursed!
Book sounds awesome so I hope I win one! email@example.com AND~ I'm a follower too! YAY!
Love the comment that the easter bunny and claus's pants would be hot (but not hot). I'm so with you on that one sista'!
Thank you all so much for reading and sharing excitement about the book and the glitter and the mints and all of it! Also, thank you Jen for such a fun and delightful opportunity. Also, I'm wondering if "Sasquatch Socks!" could be a new thing to say, like "Curses!" What do you think?
Something weird. :)
LOVE Andes Mints. And I definitely agree on the foundation first for dead people. Fun questions and answers! Thanks for the giveaway. :)
I agree! Spending time on the foundation is where I would focus my make-up on dead people time, as well! Great title, btw... can't wait to read it!
Mythical animal socks? I want some, too!
Both of you are TOTALLY awesome. Then again, Jens always are.

Got to love that you love mythical animal print lol!!
This interview was so much fun to read because you didn't stick with the conventional questions. I really liked Jen's diplomatic answer to putting make up on dead people. :)

Hi to both of you :) The book looks fabulous and the interview made me giggle.

I follow you on twitten Jen (actually both Jens!) and love the idea of your book. It's been on my To-Read list since before it came out, but I've been trying to get through all those Borders-closing sale books I bought :(
Loved the image of the 70s couch in the woods. By now I think most of those couches have been delegated to downstairs rec rooms or possibly even... the woods. My grandparents had a velveteen-like fabric couch with a pictorial of cowboys and horses. I would love to have that couch in my rec room now! :)

I'm in the UK so can't enter, but the book sounds really interesting!
Definitely a great title. Count me in for the giveaway!!
